The badge/pin you got is a reference to the One O'clock gun - an artillery gun that is fired from Edinburgh Castle, at 1pm every day apart from Sunday and some holidays. Lot of stories behind how it started and what it was used for, but it's mainly used as a way to sort out locals (who check their watches) from tourists (who look a bit startled)

Yorkshire tea is the best. Make sure you pour boiling water on your tea bags and left to stew for a few minutes so that the flavour is fully experienced. I've heard in America people only pour warm water on their tea bags which won't get the best out of the tea.

Every day (well except for Sundays, Good Friday and Christmas Day lol) at 1pm precisely, a cannon is fired from Edinburgh Castle. This was so all the ships docked in the Firth of Forth could set their maritime clocks. Some local guy brought the idea back from Paris and has been happening since the late 1800's.

I'm deffo not biased cos I'm from Yorkshire, but Yorkshire tea is actually the best tea. Last year when I came to uni for my first year I got one of the massive boxes of it (120 bags I think) and me and my flatmates went through it rapid. In fact it's the same as that massive box of normal Yorkshire Tea they got.

So the 1 O'clock Gun is a canon that is fired from Edinburgh Castle at 1pm to mark the exact time. It's fired every day, except on Sundays, Good Friday and Christmas Day. This dates back to 1861, when businessman John Hewat brought the idea to Edinburgh from Paris. The one o'clock gun is fired every day from the battlements of Edinburgh Castle, I grew up in Edinburgh but I always forgot about the gun and nearly jumped out my skin when it went off. There is a turreted building on Calton Hill, I think it was either a jail or an observation post to to prevent grave robbers, it has a big white ball on what looks like a flag pole and when the gun is fired the ball drops to the bottom of the pole and takes 24 hrs to rise to the top again.

The one o’clock gun is a tradition from Edin-burra Castle. It is a military gun that is fired at exactly 1 o’clock each day from the castle ramparts. By the way your dancing around to the “bagpipes” is what you’d see on the streets of Edin-burra by the local drunks during Hogmanay.

Try making tea bread. Its like a tea bread..........erm fruity and ideal to take with tea. Its gots tons of dried fruit in and this is steeped in the tea of your choice. Chuck it all in a bowl and let it soak overnight to do its thing. Add egg flour stir bake. Loads of recipes for this on line.

I still haven't seen an American make a cuppa like we do over here in the UK, you all seem to make an American style ice-tea, but hot, with no milk or sugar!! 🤮 It couldn't be simpler! Boil the water, put a teabag in a cup, pour on boiling water, let it stew for a couple of minutes, add a teaspoon of sugar & a little milk, stir, & Robert's your mum's brother!! 😁 (Bob's your uncle) 🤣

That was worth it just for the look on Anna's face when she said "There's More!!". I think those Yorkshire Tea bags (pronounced Yorksha) are two different types of tea, Original and Gold, so they'll taste different to each other. A note on making tea. You use Scalding Hot, Boiling water to make tea. You then leave it to steep for a couple of minutes, depending on how strong you want it, then add a little fresh milk. Stir it and enjoy your 'Cuppa'.
