Honestly, I was afraid at first when I heard that you guys are making a Mouthwashing RAP, because most of your raps are humorous, but I shouldn't have been worried. This rap fits the game perfectly, especially with the instrumental which is phenomenal and is probably already my all time favorite instrumental from you. Also you should pay double Coda for this astonishing storytelling in the animation, it actually tell the whole story (except one tiny detail that would get this video demonetized, and I'm glad that you've not even made a lyric about it). Definitely, one of your best works. Loved it and love it - 10 out 10.

Obligatory, absolutely needed rant about how much I loved all of this "Which is your side of the fence? Figure it out, give your surroundings a scan" - Outside of the amazingly creepy, sarcastic undertones this is said with, the implication that Curly genuinely might not be aware of what side of the fact that stands on concerning Jimbo and Anya is equally terrifying and fitting for the game. Pairing this with "My sight is two-dimensional, do I see black or white" makes it even better! From Curly's perspective, he had to see Jimmy (ew) as either his struggling friend for years who had finally gotten a stable job and let him stay on the Tulpar or as a wholly evil mad who forced himself on Anya and continued to antagonise her after the fact BUT if he had actually allowed himself to see life in shades of grey, to accept that Jimmy had been his buddy at one point but his actions now are deplorable and that he needs to go and his struggle don't override what he had done to Anya, then he might have gathered the strength to ACTUALLY kick Jimmy off the ship and help Anya instead of haphazardly, shallowly supporting both sides "The man who never draws any lines, declines control" paired with "Implicit isn't complicit, is it?" only makes the point stick more. We see near the end that what Jimmy had done was pretty easy to deduce as he and Curly talk right before the crash, and while Curly wasn't the one to crash the ship, wasn't the one who hurt Anya, isn't is interesting how he's almost as bad for doing nothing to help despite Anya literally hiding their only gun just so Jimbo can't get it first? Despite what I think is genuine care for her, the lack of decisive action to help in ANY substantial way comes before any intentions he might have had to help. He didn't even need to see Jimmy as evil incarnate, he just needed to see beyond the tidy categories of 'black' and 'white' and make a decision based on his actions and behaviour the moment Anya first asked for help and take responsibility as captain to protect his crew And there's my rambling done, amazing song, can't wait to have it memorised in like 2 days

Honestly, one thing in curly's favor with his indecision is that it was basically impossible to distance anyone from Jimmy at the time - since they were all stuck on a ship together in the middle of space. I am aware that the cryopod was an option, but that was clearly meant for emergencies. We have no idea how such a corrupt corporation would've screwed Curly over for letting Anya get assaulted and using emergency equipment for non-emergency reasons. Even when they were going bankrupt, such a screwed up company is not above taking their employees with them. Basically, the point of my rant is that Curly was damned as soon as he convinced Jimmy to get onto the "boat" (Curly calls the Tulpar a boat in the dlc of How Fish Is Made).

@ if there’s anything we’ve seen is that this company docks pay on literally EVERYTHING and cuts as much costs as possible. Especially since it’s going down, this isn’t the place where they’d have an emergency backup Pilot since it’s already stated they’re trying to run a “ghost crew” which is basically get away with having as little staff as necessary. Pony Express are the type to put money over safety as we’ve seen already. I can’t imagine they’d actually get a backup Pilot of all things when the ship engineer/maintenance only ever had one guy, and that seems JUST as important as Piloting tbh, unless as mentioned a co-pilot is actually required. (Daisuke was an intern that was dumped on the crew in the last minute and seems to have been given to Swansea out of not having anything else to do rather than any actual assignment. Meanwhile Jman seems to have been on multiple flights by this point which kinda highlights the fact he’s necessary) Also we see the cockpit has two seats which all have their own buttons and shit. Curly and JDiddy never try going to one another’s seats because they may only know how to operate one half of the ship’s controls. TLDR: buttons seem differ for both sides, Pony has kept a co-pilot for multiple flights when they were too cheap to supply an extra engineer, and according to Swansea, the Tulpar is run by a “ghost crew” which means something along the lines of the bare minimum needed to keep functioning.

Honestly, given how he seems to feel about Jimmy, and how Jimmy was never gonna let Curly die (he had one piece saved, and never even tried with the others), it almost seems like they had a codependent relationship. Jimmy needed Curly to get anything done in life, he was riding on the coat tails of Curly's success, and seemed to verbally abuse him. Curly is a very indecisive person, and whenever he makes a decision, it blows up in his face (telling the crew about the layoffs early only to be yelled at by Jimmy over it, as if Curly had any control) - making him dependent on others, ie Jimmy, to make choices for him.

"As I'm sentenced to indecision for the rest of my life" is so poetic... Like it hits 3 facts at once about Curly. First, he couldn't make a good decision regarding Anya and deal with Junk properly, which cost him his eye, voice, skin and decision power. Second, when Anya discussed the dead pixel, he dismissed her, and said he " always sees the bigger picture ", well now he's stuck watching the bigger picture of all his crew dying partially cuz of his indecision. Third, he overall dismissed Anya's plight and Jimbalaya's misbehaving (since a long time ago, according to some dialogues), well at the end, his choice was completely dismissed by Jizzapointment as he selfishly put him in the cryopod, as I'm not sure Curly even still wanted to be alive at that point...😢

realistically, curly wouldn't have even survived the cryopod. The water in his cells would expand when frozen, and with no skin as a barrier he'd experience mass cell death which is a very slow and painful process. Just because others saw what you didn't in a scene that got reanimated into a different context does not take away from the artist's work. As for what I meant - in the game, Curly has a "hallucination sequence" where he walks through a blood ocean past ladders and warning signs and towards the sun. The interpretation I think of for that scene in the game is Curly ignoring warning signs and potential outs while wading through the blood of those his inaction has harmed - walking towards the sun like ikaros, or a moth to a flame. It ALSO signifies the crash, how Curly was in the cockpit at the time, having quite literally walked into his own (near) demise

interesting thing about the video, while the others express different emotions and show range, jimmy does not change expression and doesn't even have different mouth movements, only blinking. This could be seen as symbolism for how he learns almost nothing of value and how intentionally superficial his 'arc' truly was. But coda (the animator) has said he did this because he did not want to give jimmy any animation but the bare minimum and found him ugly, as he is and should remain.

Everytime I rewatch it, it has the same impact. Great maintenance of the game's order, and having the DB ad at the end is a harrowingly abrupt way to end such an emotive song. The metaphors in the lyrics also help convey the game's tone, whilst providing some direct references!!! Coda did great on the animation, and the transition from Swansea killing Daisuke to getting shot by Jimmy was done notably well, both in how it visually looks and how it represents it being an appropriate punishment from Jimmy's POV. Thanks for this absolutely amazing song and video guys!
