My good friend Farmer Matt has asked me to have a look at his farmall M. It doesn’t sound good, and it’s worse than I thought

My daddy had one but ours ran on Propane. Back then propane was a lot cheaper.
@arcanewyrm6295Ай бұрын
@terrycannon570 Propane might still be an economically viable option considering gasoline prices these days. Cost about the same or less to refill a forklift-sized propane cylinder at Tractor Supply as it does to buy 4 gallons of gas.

I had an M with power steering and hydraulic three pount wide front .I loved that tractor. I found that using synthetic oil does not foul plugs or blue smoke . I ran heaviest oil 20w50 synthetic in old motors. On one motor which burned huge amounts of oil i used cheap outboard 2 stroke oil in crankcase . Still running for years. I just add a quart every time I use it . For a parade show tractor this would be fine . Excellent channel 👍 Thank you

Excellent video JT :) for my help hand ✋ to help 1951 Farmall M tractor of friend Matt has in your garage and hope tell try this out bet make run like new! First get Carburetor rebuilt to also have low rpm at 750 to 800 and mix set have just hair pinch on lean to! Second put Platinum Spark Plugs in with High QUALITY Suppression wires , gap plugs 0.25 to 0.35 foul and clean points to 0.15 to 0.20 .foul on gap points! Next run 10w30 engine oil no synthetic White Bottle of Castrol GTX plus change every 3 months plus oil filter cannister and in fuel tank every use 89 octane with 5% Ethonal no higher 5% and 90 octane or higher with 0% Ethonal too always ! I fuel filter changes in Spring and Fall Season each year 2 times! Also put black or grey of STP Total Treatment fuel injection and carb cleaner in fuel tank too each month too in 30 days! Plus tell him add 1 gallon of Desiel on fuel of gas run in each time of full tank fuel it clean motor like new too ! If does not want Desiel fuel add in gas can use GM Automatic Transmission fluid 2 or 3 type to gas ! It help lots and check air filter chamber plus add 10w30 engine oil on cup in spring and fall season! Last thing clean Mushroom cap on Air Filter Chamber box to every 3 months and last one check charged system on battery and Generator or Alternator has plus belt! Water pump plus Thermostat and Antifreeze clean Green too plus 50/50 mix with Distill water also not old and rusted! I know lots Canada farmers gas move up 5 % Ethonal gas or higher 90 + octane gas with no Ethonal % to gas tractor plus combines and even old vechiles 1986 or older too ! Ethonal to rich at like gum to fuel system even small engine to don't like Ethonal more 5%!

My guess is valve guides and seals. If Matt wants his 51m to run top dog it needs those two things done. Probably the head pulled off and shaved to get 120 on each cylinder then she will pull a three bottom plow in soft soil. If this happened no more oil smoke out the exhaust.

Something you might check, hopefully it hasn't happened and too late for the rings to be washed out already, check the pipe to the oil bath air cleaner, for a muddauber nest, wasp nest, and/ or a mouse in the oil bath part. The Case R my Dad restored sat in a barn for a long time and occasionally started by family members, and the old Wakesha needed rebuilt before , the mud dauber nest in the air pipe surely didn't do the rings any good either!! Now, the mouse in the oil, I had a buddy a long time ago, rebuilt the carb, drained the tank, wires, plugs points,, but, still every time he would brush hog with a Jubilee, hit a bump it would choke it self out UNMERCIFULLY to a shut down, and fill the crankcase with gas to. He called me and I was on the way over , he was draining the 2 stroke mix out of crankcase, AGAIN, and decided to dump the oil out of oilbath air cleaner, and heard a PLOP and then the dead mouse smell hit him, that drowned in the oil, and would suck up somehow and choke the air off to the carb!! I know mudaubers like hit and miss pancake mufflers to, and when the muffler gets hot, they fall off, and usually when the engine is on the exhaust lockout coasting ,and sucked in the cyl which means the head has to come off!! Not sure if a mouse can get in a Farmall air pipe top , but I never heard of a mouse getting in Jubilee either, or a oil bath cleaner, but I bet mudaubers can, IF you have them in MI. Yeah take a 2 lb hammer to your mic to fix it LOL.

your plugs are too cold so 1 of them is fouled and thats why its skipping, plugs are always the first thing you check put champion D21 plugs in it and check the valve lash and check the timing. the timing will make a difference on how hot it runs and if it fouls the plugs then run straight weight oil like 40 or 50 weight. why do you have different plugs in it?
