That's awesome you got one of those rods! I need to hit the lottery so I can own one.

Micah Hobensack thanks for watching! I wish it were mine to keep however, that’s not the case. It’s on loan at the moment! I’ll own one one day!

I've got the exact same model (843C). Best rod I've ever used in my life. I went out and bought the MBR842C model two months later as well.

What do you use the 842 for? I'm looking forward to buy it as well but I can't find any precise applications thoughts on the internet
@613BASS_N2 жыл бұрын
@# 69 which would be better for 1/2 oz chatterbaits, I've heard the 843 over the 842 - trying to decide on a shorter chatterbait rod then the BJR specific 7'4"

My favorite all around rod. These rods are ridiculously expensive, but I still love mine. Lol

As do I! They are sweet rods, but I only own this one.

What is this doorbell thing you have attached to the rod in front of the tell seat
@OnAnotherLine2 жыл бұрын
It’s an old product from a company called Anglr. It tracked casts and hook sets. It paired with an app, but it’s no longer being produced.

Hello I just got one of these rods and noticed that the hook keeper is not aligned right in the middle when looking at it from the left side, is yours a little more to the left as well? Do u think that it's to help so that the line doesn't get caught with it ? I know that the NRX had it at the bottom for no line contact issues. Thanks
@OnAnotherLine6 жыл бұрын
Each rod is hand made in Washington State, so each rod will have a little variation to them. If it's noticeably different I would contact Shimano and make them aware of the issue. I don't have my conquest handy at the moment so I cannot look at mine and see what mine is like.

mainly fish on the shore ,is this rod good for Carolina rig? or the 7,6" one, im assumed they are pretty much the same, its just 6" longer.
@OnAnotherLine4 жыл бұрын
Jay Huang I wouldn’t recommend this rod for Carolina rigs. All NRX rods have a super fast taper, so it makes the rod feel less stiff than a normal 3 power loomis. If you’re looking for a rod for Carolina rigs, I’d look at the 873c crr.

I’m going to be purchasing a nrx 843 on Monday, what would your recommended uses be for that rod? Always enjoy your videos, thank you!
@OnAnotherLine6 жыл бұрын
Saint Cres if you’re getting the 843 mbr it’s a great all around Rod. The mag bass rods have a fast taper, but they have a decent amount of backbone as well. It’ll be great for soft plastics, small jigs, but would be an awesome spinner bait rod. Thanks for watching!
@HobieWanKenobi7 жыл бұрын
I also did a review video of the Conquest 843c. It's a sweet rod. Using mine for Texas Rigs. I think G Loomis addressed most issues people had with the NRX with the Conquest.

Hobie-Wan Kenobi yeah I agree. It’s an awesome rod! I love the NRX as well! Both will have a spot in my boat for sure. Thanks for watching.

Hey there- was hoping you could help me with some rod selection for a new baitcasting setup- here are the baits I'd like to throw on this rig: -3/16. and 1/4 oz Uoze swim jigs with ~3.3-3.8" keitech trailers -3/16 oz. 3/0 owner weedless rigged underspin with 3.8" keitech or 4" spark shad -1/4 oz. minimax chatterbait + 3.5" trailers -The new 4" topwater Zman GOAT Toadz rigged on a 4/0 EWG weightless -3/8 oz. spinnerbait -3/8 oz. dark sleeper -3/16 or 1/4 oz. finesse jigs + 3-3.5" trailers -3/16 to 1/4 oz. texas rigs + 4" plastics Do you think it makes more sense to go with the 842c or 843c for these applications? My main concern is that because some of these baits are closer to the lighter end of the range on the 843c that they will not adequately load- even though it would probably make most sense to have a Medium Heavy to drive some of the larger 3/0 and 4/0 hooks home on the swim jigs, texas rigs, and topwaters I intend to throw. As someone who has had experience with more high end tackle than me I was hoping you could help! Thanks!

Sorry for the delay, I was processing your question. There's a lot of baits and techniques there for one rod to handle, but seeing as how these rods are uber expensive, it's understandable that you would want to have it do as much as possible. The thing you have to understand is that the Conquest rod series only comes in a MBR or Mag Bass Rod action. It's more moderate than say an NRX+ jwr. The MBR series in just about all Loomis series feel a little sluggish in the action because I have gotten used to the super fast action of the JWR series. I think you would be fine with the 843c in the Conquest due to the more moderate action of the MBR. I feel that the 2 power of the 842 would be light for some of the techniques that you are throwing there. Again, that all depends on your preference for the feel of a rod. I absolutely hate a rod that feels like a buggy whip and flails in the wind like a fly rod. I feel like that 2 power would be just like that. They do have the Spiral X and Hi-Power X wraps on that blank which is going to add a little more to the rigidness, but not enough to really make a difference. I'd also suggest looking at the G. Loomis NRX+ 853c JWR. It has a fast action, which some people don't like for moving baits, but I don't mind it.
@te66882 жыл бұрын
@@OnAnotherLine Awesome. Thanks for your reply. I think being able to pull off ALL of the listed techniques is probably a stretch. I've asked a few people around the internet who have more experience with the 842, 843 MBRs and their response is similar to yours- the 843 is definitely a solid choice that you will want for some of the heavier techniques listed (chatterbait, swim jig, spinnerbait, bigger texas rigs), but may be too light for some of the others (like a weightless topwater). The way I see it is I already have a medium and medium light spinning rod- so I should be able to throw most of the smaller stuff anyway on those rods. I went ahead and ordered an 843c conquest over the weekend! Excited to have it in hand and get some nice fish on it!

How does the sensitivity compare to the nrx?
@OnAnotherLine7 жыл бұрын
I would rate it right up there with the NRX. I didn't show it in the video, but I tied on a jig just to see the sensitivity compared to my NRX and personally I couldn't tell the difference. The added advantage of the Conquest is that level of sensitivity without blank twist due to the Spiral X wrap. It's a new breed of rod, that's for sure. Thanks for watching

Mark Mcdonald it is an Anglr Tracker. It’s a device that allows you to track your hook sets, and fish catches to go along with their free app. Check the app out, it’s super powerful and it’s free.
