G-Loomis & Shimano Conquest! - 904c

Confidence is the biggest factor for me…my main jig rod is a conquest 844c and I have a bunch of NRXs. I think NRX still has the edge in terms of sensitivity. They’re just so lively and so snappy…I don’t think the conquests amplify bottom contact quite as heavily. But I’d still choose a conquest under most circumstances. They’re as sensitive as anything else on the market…you can still build a vivid image of the bottom in your mind and the lightest strike is still gonna go DONK in your hands. They’re comfortable, nicely balanced and crazy lightweight. But they also *want* to be fished hard. That’s the x-factor for me. You can swing away and fish a conquest fearlessly. Obviously don’t be stupid and abuse it…but let’s be honest, if you’re watching this video, you wouldn’t do that anyway. One last note…don’t pay $700 for a conquest. I’ve never paid much more than $400 for an NRX or a conquest…nobody should. They’re worth $400-500 all day…no casting rod is worth $700, imo.

Agreed about the price. No way any rod is worth that much and still not be better than the nrx. Conquest is MBR so it’s tapered differently than the jwr.

The one thing about the NRX is the guide, they’re not leader knot friendly due because of the recoil guide but beside that they’re awesome

I love my conquest! I have it paired with the daiwa steez ct sv! Best combo on the market hands down!

Great video chewy. I just got one recently from a seller on eBay for $500. I bought the 842s and I like it too. Totally agree with you as far as I wouldn’t buy it for retail either. Hope you seal the cork with u40. I actually think the poison Adrena is comparable to the conquest because of the Shimano technology.

Yup - I seal all my rods with U40 right away - quick wipe down with a dry towel just to clean it then u40 goes on lol.

The Spiral X makes a big difference. I have other rods with Torzite Guides, but the Conquest easily cast the smoothest. I only have three small negatives with the Conquest. I don't like the cork foregrip, I prefer something fancier like on the Xtasy or Destroyer P5. I also don't care for the hook keeper, the line will sometimes get hung up in it, but at least it has one. And overall, besides the spiral x look on the blank, I wish the rod looked better, the Xtasy & Destroyer P5 are much more pleasant visually.

Wherever I can find the best deals! I’ve gotten them from FB marketplace, fishing expo’s, FB fishing groups/etc. anywhere I can get a good deal… the biggest thing is “don’t pay retail!”

For bottom contact - always stick to JWR models from g-loomis. In this case, go with 894 for flipping/Carolina rig.
