No Slicks...mate there's nothing wrong with having slicks. They are naturally faster than grooved tyres, grooved were brought in to slow them down. If these 2004 cars used slicks and where developed around Slicks, the lap times would be scary quick. And I'm talking 1:16 around Monza would be possible. Hypothetically speaking of course!
@LisztyLiszt9 жыл бұрын
That's my point. There's no harm in having any of the things I mentioned. They all make the car go faster. But in 2004, the cars were faster than today without all the electric bits, a turbo or DRS, but they had better greater engines and mechanical grip. The slicks of today actually slow the cars down thanks to what Pirelli have been asked to produce.
@Rottensteam9 жыл бұрын

+Rottensteam So why have there been numerous reports from ex drivers, industry experts etc saying the cars nowadays are the easiest to drive ever? Yes the torque is artificially higher because of electrical motors and the steering wheels are like Nintendo consoles but just watch a Hakkinen race and see how hard the drivers werr working, how exhausted they were after the race etc.
@Rottensteam9 жыл бұрын
+Hedley Thorne several say they're still difficult to drive fx James Allison, Ferrari engineer, says so and those who says its easier today compared it to the 1980s era with those fairly "primitive" turbo cars with huge amount of turbo lag, those were really difficult to drive, the throttle almost worked as an on-off switch. But compared to the 2001-2007 era these cars are more difficult, look at how bad Kimi performs in a car without driver aids.
