Wow... Despite the fact that I’ve never heard the original, your lyrics really struck a chord with me, bringing up many things I’ve been dwelling on recently. It kinda feels like a song that should be accompanied by a nice slow piano (yes, I’m about to see if there are any good piano covers that do it justice) to accent the uncertain vibe of the lyrics. All in all, I’d say that you really conveyed the emotion of the song! :)

I take this as a child who escapes reality through her fantasies, wishing she could keep dreaming those dreams but knows she ultimately has to give them up to continue in the real world. You can tell that by the narration referring to someone else, and if you think of the older woman as the girl's older self, it makes sense. She's looking back on those childhood fantasies. When she slaps her younger self and her head explodes, it's meant to be like she's damning her younger self for being foolish.

EDIT: i was like childish a year ago this "speech" may seem idiotic I think I see the meaning of this song. Having ideas, opinions, creative dreams, but never telling anyone. You just keep your meaningless Dreamland in your head. Which is what I've done for the longest time. Until now. I wrote and am writing on Wattpad. Even if I lose motivation, I stay strong and determined. Don't feel discouraged to tell people of your dreams. Find others with similar ideas! Don't just sit there, thinking, waiting... Get up and spread your words.

Im guessing it means the woman is the child's mom and the mom is telling the child to "wake up", "Give up your dreams" and "get outta your head". And stuff like that. The reason the mom might have told the child this is maybe because she doesn't want her child to get hurt like how herself did when she dreamed to big which made more hopes to crush. And I don't think she actually slapped her child it was just a way of showing what she was saying. This is just what I think though, not sure.

You know I might be too late to say this but I might as well put it out their 😌 while yes the song pertains to a girl who has in all accounts and her family (at 1:13 and 2:33 - 2:57 it is possibly her mother) been told to give up her dreams I see the song differently. I see it as a back and forth between both her older side and younger side. However it isn’t her young self telling herself to keep her dreams, but her older self telling the younger that if you give up now you’ll never see the end. Her young self is scared to try and believes that nobody will help her and encourage her. But her older self comes in to slap the doubt out of her because after all it may be a dream but you never know until you reach the end AND it you at least try.

I just saw this song and yeah i watched it and i like it cause the song hits me really hard like the line "Is it okay to be bad at everything?" I mean im really lazy and i want to improve but if i try to change i will mess things up and people will hate me more.I am really bad at chores and i am really dumb at surbivak skills and stuff. I have alot of dreams going on everytime like about my grades and private stuff but i never show it. I never tell anyone i never showed it even in a drawing i made, our projects that include mental health in school cause my parents always check my works so they will know if my answers are correct. And even when our school just made a mental health program where we can show our feelings and our dreams that we know that will never come true to motivate us. Another line that hit me really hard is "How can I be loved when I don't like me?" Cause I never really liked myself. I wanted to be a perfect girl that my parents want but i couldn't. I wanted to live my life as a dream that i made. Where my parents won't force me into being "top 1" and they will accept me. My parents love me as they say and i feel it too but my oarents don't say that the part that they hate me is bigger. Well they say sometimes but the other things, they don't say it but i feel it. I watched this. watched it again. watched it again, and cried. this is so dumb but I've never related more to a song,, every lyric struck a chord in me. even the title I was like?? I probably can relate to this one lol-- but actually listening to it hit different jajdjdjakajs. I have a terrible anxiety disorder, I'm constantly on edge, I can't go to school, headaches constantly, shaking,,, and I cope with all that by excessive daydreaming. I don't know how to explain this to people xD I'll just blast music in my ears and go to my own world where I can maybe interact with fictional characters, go to school, have superpowers lolol-- I'll do this for hours, multiple times a day. I just wanted to say that i read what you wrote and i relate. I never actually allowed myself to dream Like that because i thought i was not allowed to pretend i was any less trash than what i (at the time felt like ) i was. But i understand the whole wishing reality was different thing really well. What im trying to say is: it can and it will get better (especially the whole being Happy in reality thing) it can be a unbearably slow proccess but eventually you'll have more and more Moments were you can geniunly say that you're Happy. I wish I could wake up one day and I’d be in a house with all my favorite characters. I would be a lot less traumatized by everything that happened in this universe. And when I did break and cry, Urbosa or Asami or Willow would be there. I like to think Asami would take me into her workshop on my good days and teach me a bit of robotics and engineering. Urbosa would teach me a bit of sword fighting. (I couldn’t go into Gerudo Town, but I would get to meet a few people. Riju I think I would “click” with.) Willow and the kids (team leaders) teach me how to catch Pokémon. I enter into a QPR with Link and Zelda. Maybe everything would be okay, if I could find a way there. I know it won’t happen, but I have to keep up hope. Otherwise I’ll break.
