@@kjlim3743 in my opinion it's amazing how good some of the more, and then somehow miraculously bad some of them are. His covers are so terrible it's bizarre Judas priest seems to like them).

A lot of people dump on Point of Entry, and while it's not quite up to British Steel or Screaming for Vengeance standards, I still think it's a good album. Headed Out to the Highway seems like the song's protagonist has reached the point of utter nihilism, while Desert Plains evokes the image of a long night's ride to reunite with a long lost love. Don't Go, Turning Circles and On the Run are for me fun listens too. I think Metal Trenches guy is a bit hard on the album, but to each their own. We all choose our own favorites.

I won't drone on and one about every little nitpick I have, as I can respect your opinion and I know you put in the work. The only thing I will comment on is that I think you're unfairly overlooking some of their 70s albums. That four album run from Sad Wings through Hell Bent for Leather is PIVOTAL in the development of Metal, and IMO is the band's all-time best run. It takes some time to stew, I will grant you, but I urge you to revisit those albums. They're very rewarding on repeat listens. In any case, keep up the good work!

If that's the case, as an amalgam and upgrade of a lot of that early material, I would highly recommend Unleashed in the East, if you've not checked it out. I think something not enough fans realize when it comes to what has helped a band like Judas Priest grow as a band in their latter years is their attention, at least Rob particularly pays, to other bands and subgenres of metal that have sprouted up since Judas Priest began. Not that you’d ever hear a true death, black, or nu metal sound to their music, Rob specifically has cited bands like Behemoth, KoRn, and Emperor as influences on his music taste and in some ways inspirations when it comes to writing and recording material. He understands and respects the landscape of the metal genre and how versatile it truly is, something so many legacy acts absolutely refuse to do and falter creatively because of.

Giants in the sky left me feeling super reverent in a sense considering what the lyrics are about. Ritchie really has brought some fire to this band. Your point of Firepower vs recent Metallica is spot on. As was your remark about recent Maiden. I love the first six Maiden albums, but i feel they've been overrated as fuck since. It baffles me that Maiden is the bigger band worldwide. I think 'Screaming for Vengeance' is rated one category too high here for me but a fun thing about rating Judas Priest albums is that every level of rating category-level gets represented eventually!
@ЙорданСтефановСтефанов8 ай бұрын
Screaming for Vengeance is the perfect blend of their classic soind and 1980s cheesy metal. It sounds 1980s nostalgia but in a good way like GTA Vice City radio.

While I would probably move them around a bit, I agree to the Top 6 albums, which are also the only 6 I need in my collection. 6 amazing albums... Stained Class will probably always hold that "special place" for me when it comes to Priest.

20th century Only 1. Stained Class 2. Sad Wings of Destiny 3. Screaming For Vengeance 4. Defenders of the Faith 5. Painkiller 6. Rocka Rolla 7. Sin After Sin 8. Turbo 9. Killing Machine 10. British Steel 11. Point of Entry 12. Ram it Down 21st century 1. Invincible Shield 2. Firepower 3. Angel of Retribution 4. Nostradamus Still need to listen to the first Faulkner album Stained Class and Sad Wings are from a very special and brief moment in time of exploration into unknown poetic dark territory during an era of greatness in all genres. Nothing will take that away from us

Turbo is awesome 👌 really enjoyed this video even though I would drop Firepower to good and bump Invincible Shield to perfection. The Lodger seals it.

I'd rank the albums before Rob's departure quite differently, bu starting from Jugulator I completely agree (except Shield that I haven't heard yet, but I'm hyped with all the singles). Despite that very different opinion, I had to give you thumbs up for that comparison with Iron Maiden (man I'd like them to release anything close to Firepower) and Metallica comment. The only thing I missed - is Shield better than Firepower?
@griefforest18708 ай бұрын
It's just a matter of where you came in with Priest. (Might have heard Breaking the law first, I'm not even sure if I did at that point. Sin after Sin was my first Priest album). Of course your ranking might be a bit controversial and there are a couple with which I agree and a couple with which I strongly disagree. Haven't heard Invincible Shield yet but the reviews and singles sound very promising. Firepower had a couple instant bangers but with just under an hour it was still a bit long... 2-3 songs less would have bumped it up even higher Perfection: Sad Wings of Destiny (my favourite album), Stained Class, Screaming for Vengeance, Painkiller Fantastic: Killing Machine, Sin after Sin, Defenders of the Faith (last third brings it down a notch for me) Great: Turbo, British steel, Firepower Good: Redeemer of Souls, Point of Entry (Couple of duds on both but the songs I like I really like) Okay: Angel of Retribution, Nostradamus, Rocka Rolla Fun Bad: Ram it down (Don't know where else to put it - half of it I really like and half of it I can't stand) Boring Bad: Jugulator, Demolition (Although Cathedral Spires is alright. But Demolition... more like DeNOlition)

I must be the only person alive who actually likes Point of Entry. I've tried now for decades to Listen to Rock A Rolla and just can't. Nothing like Sabbath sounds more like John Mayall on steroids. Hell Bent For Leather I would rank higher. Rest of the list for me is pretty spot on.

You're not alone. Heading Out to the Highway and Desert Plains are killer songs.

You're definitely not the only person who likes Point of entry. What I love about Priest is that each of their albums sounds great in it's own way.

Painkiller is easily their best album. Top 5 metal album of all-time. Cover to cover genius
@doomusrlc8 ай бұрын
9:07 just a note, it lost to Metallica's cover of Queen's "Stone Cold Crazy". Still BS, as the other nominations besides Priest were Suicidal Tendencies 'Lights Camera Revolution' album, Anthrax 'Persistence of Time' album and Megadeth 'Rust in Peace' album. It was overall complete bullshit that a cover song won out for best metal performance over 4 absolutely fantastic metal albums.

Killing Machine and Angel of Retribution being so low surprised me. Nostradamus and Rock a Rolla being as high as they are also surprising. Opposite for me. Firepower is amazing, but Invincible Shield edges it out for me. Screaming for Vengeance 🤘

I gotta say I'm mostly in agreement with these rankings! Although personally I'd move Sad Wings, Sin After Sin & Killing Machine up to great, move Screaming for Vengenance down to fantastic and Defenders down to great. Defenders is awesome up to a certain point but for me at least the album runs out of steam after Eat Me Alive. Painkiller is the only perfect Priest album in my opinion and it's generally just one of my favourite albums ever! I have to give Nostradamus a re-listen too. I haven't listened to that album all the way through in years but I seem to remember thinking it was a good idea/concept just poorly executed! I sometimes wish they explored that sound more after that album. I guess now I gotta check out your Maiden ranking video, Maiden are my favourite band and if that intro is anything to go by, I'll have my pitchfork on stand by just in case! 😂

"Fun bad" is a catagory only reserved for Judas Priest! It's like bad but still good the only way to describe those 2 albums lol ;D \M/

Haha, I'm team priest and have been saying their post reunion out put is > Maidens. Looks like Trenches agrees. But sad Wings and Killing Machine at mid. I'll be honest that stung. Also high praise for Nostradamas, my least like post reunion album. Its just not what i want from a priest album. So pumped to pick up my vinyl copy of Invincible Shield next week

S - Screaming for Vengeance, Painkiller, Firepower, Invincible Shield A - Defenders of the Faith, British Steel, Killing Machine, Redeemer of Souls (Although the production almost takes this down a tier) B - Turbo, Sad Wings of Destiny, Angel of Retribution C - Stained Class (I feel this is overrated), Sin After Sin, Ram It Down D - Jugulator, Nostradamus E - Demolition, Rocka Rolla, Point of Entry

Point of entry has really great songs. Heading out to the highway, desert plains, hot rocking, turning circles, on the run, solar angels, don’t go. And sin after sin and sad wings are another stratosphere level to Rocka Rolla, though I quite like that album as well

@@MetalTrenches That's cool. To each their own. I dig it but it's definitely the most experimental Exhorder album and definitely different from their earlier albums. If you want groove metal Exhorder it's definitely not that.

The 70s albums are their best ones. Painkiller and Screaming are slightly overrated in my opinion. Defenders and British Steel are my favorites from 80s Priest.

How Rob is still able to sound this incredible into his 70s blows my mind. Especially since listening to Bruce Dickinsons new album where he could barely sing now. Great tier list and vid though. I hate Nostradamus for how bloated it is for me but I definitely understand why some people would like it. But yeah my hot take is that turbo and jugulator make the fantastic tier for me.

Rob is the metal god, but they are definitely doing some electronic wizardry in the studio with his voice. He doesn't sound like that live at this point. It's no disrespect, he's my favorite metal singer of all time. Just a fact of life.

Crazy that Firepower and Invincible Shield are two of their best albums when they came out this late into their careers. Usually a band's later material tends to suck ass.
