Dave Holland as a drummer was as capable and talented as any of the previous and later Judas Priest drummers. But it was with Dave Holland that they actually made it big, his drumming was perfect and never missed a tempo. If you think Dave Holland is not a good drummer just check the song Rapid Fire, if people just think that good drumming is knowing how to use the double pedal like Les Binks and Scott Travis then check what Dave Holland did in that song. And yes, they owe part of British Steel succes to Dave's drumming. Or we could talk about albums like Point of entry that has a killer drum intro in the song Desert Plains. We could Talk of the twin albums Screaming for Vengeance and Defenders of the Faith.

I remember when i first started listening to Judas priest back in the later 70's.A the time i thought their earlier stuff was too busy sounding with everyone in the band trying to be as musical as possible(kinda like sabbaths earlier stuff). So when i heard SFV i was so blown away. So much power! I liked that the drummer was more solid and back beat driven. Little did i know that JP with dave holland would be one of my biggest influences in my own drumming and started my search for even heavier music that played in the drop down more often(thrash metal). Of course later i went back and started listening to the earlier stuff like sad wings and unleashed in the east. Once again, totally blown away. Loved it even more after i became a musician and could hear it from that perspective. Ripper, jawbreaker, tyrant, genocide, victim of change, and so many more were absolutely fantastic songs! I could listen to SFV a billion times and never get sick of it. Classic awesome lp from start to finish.
