Not to mention he's not having to destroy his vocal chords to do it. You can tell he's able to find that perfect resonance point in his voice to make those sounds instead of straining to get there. I'm sure they rehearse plenty, but his singing ability has got to be largely innate talent.

"The Sentinel" ranks [ imo ] as one of the best metal songs ever written - the dual guitar harmonies are sublimely haunting .....and the 'samurai ethos' woven into Halford's lyrics is timeless in a brutal yet compelling way...... the dark poetry of the tale mesmerizes......this song has the power of a bomb ....and yet retains the musical subtlety of a classical ensemble......quite simply put - this piece is a work of art. Metal art that is .....for those uninitiated. It just doesn't get any better than this ....different maybe.....but not better.
@ronniebjuhr11914 жыл бұрын
You wrote this a long time ago now, but you don't get enough credit for it. You are too right brother. It is not just good. It is tantalising in a way that not many songs are. IF you really listen it keeps you on the edge throughout and won't disappoint for a single second. Heavt metal at its best.

Now facing one another The stand-off eats at time Then all at once a silence falls As the bell ceases it's chime Upon this sign the challengers With shrieks and cries rush forth The knives fly out like bullets Upon their deadly course Screams of pain and agony Rent the silent air Amidst the dying bodies Blood runs everywhere The figure stands expressionless Impassive and alone Unmoved by this victory And the seeds of death he's sown if those aren't the most chilling lyrics I've ever heard from a rock track, I don't know what is
@DunmoresMovieMania3 жыл бұрын
In 84, the first time listening to this album on my stereo, amidst the blur, I could make out these words: *Now facing one another* The stand-off eats at time *Then all at once a silence falls* *As the bell ceases its chime* Upon this sign the challengers With shrieks and cries rush forth *The knives fly out like bullets* *Upon their deadly course* Screams of pain and agony *Rent the silent air* *Amidst the dying bodies* *Blood runs everywhere* The figure stands expressionless *Impassive and alone* Unmoved by his victory *By the seeds of death he's sown* ...and I remember thinking (even though I couldn't quite make out ALL the words) that these lyrics were just mythic; that THIS was why I loved METAL - only in Metal could something so medieval and visceral be expressed with such drama and power. And the fact that someone would use the word "impassive" in a metal song - that was just gravy!

I was the oldest boy in our family but I felt a lot of pressure my job was to raise my brothers to be good men. The music played by Judas Priest was spectacular. Every lyric struck me as true. The honesty of each event in the lyrics was the correct answer to my life. Rob Halford looked down at me and did not remove his eyes, he asked me a question 3 times never changing his eye sight. (What do you want) he asked me directly never removing his eye sight from my eyes. I held up my leather coat in the air in front of Rob Halford. He said loudly "" I Know What you want""Each song was inspiration for me.

It was Freewheel Burning that got me into Priest back in the 80's. It was Donny across the street that got me into Motorhead by loaning me his Ace Of Spades tape. (he did get it back) RIP Lemmy

@@seanpet8008 The guy wrote that Bruce cleaned Rob's shoes back at the time (I'm not sure if this slang is used in English but it basically means that he wasn't even close). In my opinion they're both amazing vocalists and even though I used to swear by Bruce, lately I've been exclusively listening to Judas Priest. The bands are different and both singers fit perfectly in their band. God bless difference, how boring would this world be without it.

La evolución que tuvieron se evidencia en los discos que grabaron y son un testimonio de superación y amor a la música. Nadie ha logrado algo semejante.
