As you age, your vocal folds become less pliable, no matter what you do. It’s age. Painkiller is a nearly complete falsetto song. And in a ridiculously high key. It’s very difficult to hit those notes. So, tucking your chin helps put your voice in a proper position to sing like that. Considering who he is, and how long he’s been doing it, for him to even agree to keep this on a set list is a massive thing for fans to rejoice. I have nothing but massive respect for Halford. Beyond his being a really cool guy, he’s one of only a few who can still sing live. Bruce Dickinson, Joey Belladonna, Halford and maybe one or two others? The rest are just done…

i grew up with judas priest and the rest, hating it every single day when my dad played it for the first 10 years of my life because it was on.. EVERY SINGLE MINUTE EVERY SINGLE DAY. even when he had his headphones on i could hear it upstairs so loud that it anoyed me while i was playing on my atari. now i'm almost 40 and i thank judas priest for all the amazing things they produced... i dont have to explain what i think about their unique skills all together. the moment u think you dig the drum solo's, it feels like you dont give enough credit to tipton, then halfords starts to scream and you know why judas priest is judas priest. seeing 708k subscribers makes me sad because people don't know what they miss, but also happy for the first time that i'm getting older and didn't have to miss out in this awesome piece of rock history!

I've been a Judas Priest fan since the 70's. "Stained Class" "unleashed in the east" - live "Sin after Sin" "British Steel" "Screaming for Vengeance" etc. But my go to favorite has always been "Painkiller!" Judas Priest's body of work, the legacy, all the great albums, living legends!

Damn! Rob is really struggling, and his voice is obviously worn and doesn't sound like him in the 80s, but it KICKS ASS! I love the rawness and raspy/growly tone he's belting out at almost 70 years of age! Awesome!
@chezbe2 жыл бұрын
this songs is extraordinary difficult to sing even for young singers in our days, but let's be honest, no one in our days can sing even 50% of this performance, core genres and extreme vocals are very popular at this moment, however I understood thing - it's more easier to growl and write core music than make masterpiece like this!
@EricNeuls2 жыл бұрын
id argue hes not really strugglinh with it he knows his limits, but hes wayyy more on pitch and has more power now than like the 90s when he sounded like a cackling clown. Hes got a killer growl now and like actual falsetto that can cut thru. He cares more about his voice now as he ages and im assuming hes got a great vocal coach to keep him healthy.

i feel like this is one of the only songs he doesnt sound amazing singing. he sounds good but nothing like the studio version. Hell even a year after the song came out he wasnt singing it like the studio version tbh. but this song is just hard. i feel like if they came out and just did this song hed do great but using his voice all night then doing this song just doesnt allow him to do it perfectly whereas when the song was recorded he had all day to rest his voice and go to the studio in tip top shape to record. i wouldnt expect any singer to be able to do this song live.

K.K I thought put much more energy into playing live, & that's the main reason I loved K.K....well, too not to mention being a hot looking blue-eyed blonde😊...us 18 y/o young women back a 1000yrs ago thought he was THE MAN!🔥♂️(I still have my Priest button collection on a hand-stitched Judas Priest vest I made in the mid 80's & I even have a custom made button "I ❤️ K.K. DOWNING"...come to think of it, I bet some may be worth a bit of $ now, 35+yrs old & in really good condition...THOSE WERE THE DAYS!

Metal and thrash fan from the old school I’m gonna say NOTHING tops Priest. With no argument the greatest heavy metal band ever. There is no one close. These dudes were 15 years into their career when ram it down and painkiller dropped and those two albums were over the edge. That deep into your career and you’re still killing the kids? Nothing but total reverence for this band forever and always.
