If you like, see this newer playthrough with better video quality ( • Judge Dredd | SNES Lon... ). Even though this film was never thought of as a "proper" Dredd movie, more like a Stallone action/sci-fi vehicle with the name Judge Dredd slapped on it, see this great analysis about the ways this film was actually influenced from 2000 AD.

I like that it goes past the plot of the movie and includes a new storyline that incorporates the Dark Judges.
@AnthonyRosbottom
@AnthonyRosbottom 3 жыл бұрын
@@multitudeofidols We had to finish the game before the release of the film. Initially we only had an early draft of the script to go on. Then I was given 2 or 3 colour photocopies of some of the concept art. It had purposely been colour photocopied about five times so each generation of copy was was worse and worse. A little while later I was allowed to visit the sets at Shepperton and take photos. The halls of justice set was up at the time so that's why that level is closest to the movie. That set got broken down and rebuilt as Rico's lab so I had to go back to the heavily degraded concept art for that. So the extra Dark Judges storyline was a necessity otherwise it would have been a short game :)

I can. Lawnmower Man, a movie about virtual reality, believe it or not! First half of the SNES game (up until the fight against Jobe) follows the story of the movie, kinda... but the second half deals with the aftermath of the cliffhanger ending, essentially a sequel with the developers' own plot! That's of course not counting with the computer game, which only dealt with the part where the protagonist enters the virtual world, and the game's own sequel, named War Games I think.

I have this game for my SEGA. There are some difference besides the graphics and sound effects. One, it seems like the bosses are a lot easier to beat, because they flash red when you are hitting them and in the genesis version they don't, you just see a small blood spat and they take more hits to kill. Second. the computer consoles that you need to activate or deactivate for the security doors are switch around in different places, not far from the location in the snes versions, but just a few spaces away. The exits are also in different places as well. Also it feels a lot easier to capture the Dark Judges in the Snes Version because they move slower, the Sega version they are fast as lightning.
@KAILOONE
@KAILOONE 10 жыл бұрын
I have played both snes and genesis version and beat both several times. They both have around the same difficulty, and almost exact levels. Only some levels change, and the most noticable difference between these two games are the graphics. And also that judge dredd can kick on mid air on the snes version. The snes is like closer looking than the genesis version. I personally think I like more the genesis version, its just faster I think although I'm not sure.
@Theshark15z
@Theshark15z 10 жыл бұрын
KAILOONE The Snes version you battle with Chopper on the Mega City one Level but in the Genesis you don't and each boss has there own music while the Genesis uses the same one for all. I do like the snes version better.
@KAILOONE
@KAILOONE 10 жыл бұрын
Theshark15z Yes I know that the snes version looks better has more details and more music effects. But example when jumping with dredd he kinda jumps and falls at a rate and also when running he it feels akward. Meanwhile on the genesis version when jumping, dredd jumps and falls fast or slow depending on how hard you press the button and also when running it feels smoother. The snes version is more appealing but I enjoy more the the way it feel on the genesis version. It comes down to opinions I guess.

Hi, I'm the 'Blizzard' referred to in the credits. I was the main background artist on this game. When I got my first videogame job back in 1988, I had just moved from Australia to UK and I had blond hair so my employers gave me the nickname of 'Blizzard of Oz'. It stuck and to this day I'm known as 'Bliz' in the videogame industry (the nickname got shortened over the years thankfully!)

Arresting perps will give you a double bonuses, and after you arrested them all, you truly feel badass (it requires different bullets to make the perp surrender). This game can be hard when there's a puzzle challenge. Other perps and bosses are too evil to be arrested, they get sentenced instead.

We had our own middleware that handled the creation of platform games really well. There was a map editor side to it for the levels but also a sprite animation editor that gave us really fine control over things like damage area hitboxes so they could change in size and position per frame. It was also really good at compacting sprite and level graphics. Because we weren't writing the backend systems from scratch for every game, we could create these games relatively quickly and cram more graphics inside.
