The judge didn't exactly throw the book at her. She gave her a suspended sentence. Throwing the book at her would have been sentencing her to the maximum prison term. 4 years probation isn't fun but 2 years in prison is worse.

Probation is definitely set up to fail for an addict or alcoholic. They expect them to just magically quit as of now, take classes they can't afford. If it was that easy to stop there would be far fewer addicts. But I'm guessing that her 1st violation will be making contact with the boyfriend.

This is not the judge to lie to, it will get you in jail faster than anything else that you do. This woman is going to fail probation unless she gets herself together. The smirk on her face started to fade as soon as the judge started listing her terms of probation. The judge set her up with everything she needs to be successful but it will require her to totally change her attitude.

I remember my cousin up in front of a judge like this. The judge told her to stop lying and her response was “ if you want honesty, I honestly want to do drugs more than I want those kids”. Broke all our hearts. The grandparents got full custody and my cousin did hard detox in jail.

@carltonwomble9038 they didn't HAVE to, they stepped up. Their choice. When I was being taken into foster care, my grandparents declined to take me in. Personally, I think it's a shitty choice, but it is actually a choice. Who it's actually unfair to, is the kids. Seems like you forgot the innocent party in all this.

Her grandparents have already raised their children, and now in their remaining years, they are expected to raise children again because the parents can't!🤷🏿‍♂️. That's a choice that they shouldn't have even been presented to them first of all, and unless it's a family emergency, like death or illness, and it should be temporary situation (in my opinion). Wouldn't it make more sense for her to ask the father of the children first, and secondly, her and the father's siblings or younger relatives, next?.🤔

As a 42 yr old woman who has been dealing w the system my whole life starting from children services as a child my mother left me on my dads porch ... abandonment 😢 Then I started running away as a teen and got sent to JDC, multiple groups homes and a locked down residential treatment center for messed up teens called Osterlen in Springfield Ohio to hospital 🏥 stays locked down multiple foster homes....all before 18 Then I have two prison numbers and have given many yrs to the state of Ohio This is a good judge..... The entire first case was A MESS!! To the defense lawyer smiling awkwardly, the mom acting like she’s up there for parking tickets instead she’s a meth head with boyfriends she’s fighting with, and children’s fathers she’s living with ect. On top of that she’s accused of stealing a firearm then had teenagers in the mix of her very chaotic life! Whewww 😵‍💫 then decides lying left & right to the Judge is the right thing to do!! Wow. Yeah, I’m not sure how so many people are misunderstanding that part. It’s clear she was talking about a joint custody situation and I was internally screaming when her attorney didn’t step in and just respectfully clear that part up??? First guy- father of one child and shares joint custody with defendant. Second guy- father of the other child, but out of the picture/no involvement with defendant or child Guy mentioned in paperwork- defendant’s boyfriend at time of offense That said, I do enjoy watching this judge and usually appreciate the way she handles those who come through her courtroom. Even though I think part of the judge’s. reaction was borne out of a misunderstanding, it’s still clear that this defendant has some major issues she needs to work through…the judge’s ruling seems justified.

Trying to save her family? What video did you watch? She stole a firearm - and that ‘possible father’ was her co-defendant. She lied to the judge initially about any drug use, she has children and she’s doing meth. I know about addicts because I was one. When your freedom is in someone’s hand, it’s a really poor choice to lie to that person. She has a smirk on her face through the entire hearing as if she had done nothing. Judge Boyd is an exceptionally excellent judge and wants people to succeed - she can’t do that unless the person tells them the truth. Addicts are humans, of course they are, but that doesn’t mean they don’t still possess the ability to make certain choices. If she was truly trying to do ANYTHING for her family, she would have been honest with the judge and told her she needs help with her addiction, not lie about it. If you’re going to white knight for everyone, perhaps try and use your critical thinking skills.
