Most state prosecutors are like this. They are used to railroading suspects with circumstantial evidence, and haphazardly throwing out false claims while examining witnesses. That's why having a more expensive lawyer is necessary to be treated fairly. They only need to convince a jury but if your lawyer challenges evidence like this you can get better pleas or even beat the case.
