This death was so preventable, so much time has passed but it still makes my blood boil. The poor teacher did everything she could, yet CPS refused to get Gabriel out of that home. That's NOT actually true. I'm not saying that she has sympathy, but when you said most killers who said they are sorry really aren't isn't true at all because some people don't think before doing something. People don’t realize that as a teacher.. you can’t do much for a student when you see them in those conditions. Students must not be held after class at all unless their parents are not there to pick them up, then they must wait in the office. If a teacher takes the students else where to a hospital or a station, that is illegal and basically all I’m saying is that teacher did every legal thing she could possibly have done.

I remember watching the documentary on Netflix about Gabriel life and trial. I remember crying my heart out at the teachers interview. She had said on mother's day most of the kids were making gift cards for their mothers. She knew Gabriel was being abused and she told him that he didn't have to make one and he said he wants to because he still loves his mom. This child still had so much love for his mom even after everything she had done to him.

Personally, child services don't do enough. The child is often times made to lie and will often cover up for their parents because well that's their mommy and daddy, or they have siblings. it is truly devastating that they cannot even tell when a child is blatantly lying to their face.

I understand why social workers get a bad wrap, but they have to follow protocol. They don't just go to a house and remove children, but when they do they often encounter resistance from the same children they are attempting to protect. Let me tell you, these social workers lost their jobs, homes and it will take years to get their lives back to normal, a lot happened to cease removal from the home. Please have compassion. May little Gabriel rest in peace.

@@inigopetersen2486 yes, I see what you are saying too. It is a very difficult job, I can imagine. There are lots of different factors they have to take into consideration, some of which prevent them from taking action as best as they could. Even though I wrote my comment a couple of days ago, I was thinking the other day from the child services perspective and I did feel guilty.
@inigopetersen2486
@inigopetersen2486 3 жыл бұрын
@@elc1847 Please don't feel guilty, there needs to be reform all around, the workload for social workers need to be equally balanced, not all are essential workers, while emergency response workers work odd hours, are expose to chronic trauma, have an excess of cases, unforseen deadlines, there are workers who sit at the office a do clerical work, and supervisors set their own hours and give themselves bonuses as desired. Supervisors also need to approve reports before they are handed to the judge. There are plenty of good workers but read the comments, social workers are demonized for attempting to do their job. And believe me, the social worker did not inflict the abuse or neglect to the child. But they are there to take blame and hold the liability.

This reminds me of the Reddit form where it asked for a teachers who have had to make that call to CPS.... And how many fucking times CPS didn't do anything. It wasn't....a lot..... But it was too many you know? Like, the number of people in that subreddit who spoke of CPS being called on their family..... and then leaving them with their abuser because they just ..did such a shit job of checking the home and interviewing the children IN FRONT OF THE ABUSERS. So unfortunately, even if it's just... 20 or 30% of incompetence, that's still potentially *thousands* of children, you know??

Omg horrific! I can't imagine how helpless the teacher who reported it feels, too! It's bad enough when nobody helps but it's worse when people try to help and the child is failed! Another case of a skeezy woman choosing a depraved, abusive man over her own child! Disgusting! When I got a divorce I didn't even date for over 7 years! I didn't want to risk bringing a man around my son. Even if he were a good man and my son loved him, if it didn't work out it would break my son's heart and that's not fair either. I don't feel sorry for that disgusting woman in any way. Life in prison is better than she deserves! I hope like hell that man doesn't have his sentence commuted to life on an an appeal or something.😡 Even if the death penalty is applied, he's probably got another 20 to 35 years of life to live before it happens! A lot more than that baby was given. 😓😓😓😢😢😢😢 It never ceases to amaze me how hard a sadistic child killer would fight to avoid the death penalty. Cowards one and all!

How can anyone hurt their own baby?! I will never understand. The thought of my babies in pain, upset, sad, anything other than happy just makes me sick to my stomach. I don't understand and never will understand how some parents don't love their children like I love mine. No words to describe it and no words to describe how it feels to be loved by them.
