The fact that even 1 veteran is involuntarily homeless or has committed suicide because of service related trauma is a national shame, much less the numbers we have. We need to put people over profits and setup letting foreign and corporate investors artificially inflate housing prices to the point most real actual people can't afford to live. This is so historic. Not enough by any means, but this is so important. What a great first step. I was homeless for three or four years, and if you knew me you would never have expected that that would be my fate. It can happen to anyone. People tend to think that people are homeless by choice, or that they just don't have the same standards as everyone else. This couldn't be further from the truth. Homeless people are just as diverse as the general population, and they have the same needs and desires that every other person has. Treat them like human beings--it means the world to them.

There are LITERALLY THOUSANDS of videos where people interviewed and OFFERED HOUSING SHELTERS ECT and THEY OUT THEIR OWN MOUTHS said NO BC THEY DIDN'T WANT TO FOLLOW ANY RULES NOR TELL ANYONE WHAT TO DO. So RIDDLE ME THIS.....HOW do you FORCE someone IN who DON'T WANT to get or have HELP mentally I'll or not? You SWEAR you CAN'T FORCE them to accept help. And HONESTLY I'm a disabled veteran grandmother raising TODDLERS and husbands WORKS 12 HR SHIFTS. I DO NOT WANT MENTALLY ILL HOMELESS PEOPLE LIVING NEXT TO ME NOR ANY SCHOOLS. PERIOD. They HANG OUT AROUND the shelters YELLING at people SPITTING on people cussing people EXPOSING THEMSELVES and being VIOLENT. Hell a MAN JUST KICKED A TODDLER at a PUBLIC PARK JUST a couple days ago. In Seattle they made CAMP NEEDLES AND ALL IN AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BASKETBALL COURT PARKING LOT and ALL AROUND the INSIDE GATE PERIMETER that PARENTS STUDENTS AND STAFF HAVE TO DODGE EVERY DAM DAY. The ones that ACTUALLY WANT HELP.....ACCEPT HELP AND DO BETTER. But I tell YOU what. YOU put the facilities NEAR YOUR HOME YOUR FAMILY CHILDREN MOTHERS GRANDMOTHER WIVES. YOU FIRST! SHOW US SAVAGES HOW ITS DONE lol LEAD BY EXAMPLE THEN get back to ME. But I PROMISE YOU WON'T DO THAT. Just tell US what WE should do give and GIVE UP while YALL DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING except run your mouths.

Affordable Housing is also part of the problem. So called "Affordable Housing" and "Income Restriction" have rents so high that Low Income (even no income) can't afford the rent. They are so high, not even HUD (Section 8) refuses to approve the high rent for people who has no income. What 99 percent of private Affordable Housing won't tell you is that they pay 0 in taxes. 1 so called Affordable Housing used that as part of there sales pitch and claimed that put the money (or savings) into having great amenities. WTF! I assume that the reason so called Affordable Housing pays 0 in taxes is that they can offer low rent Affordable Housing to people who has low or no income. Affordable housing is for Middle class people, not for people (lower class) who actually needs Affordable Housing

I've had an idea for the homeless problem for a while now. Set up homeless campuses. Have Dormitory style buildings set up with bathroom and shower facilities, laundromats, cafeterias, with basic medical care, surplus clothing, job training classes and job placement available. But no violent behavior tolerated. Everyone should feel welcome and safe. But there should be a focus on getting some of these people back to be productive citizens instead of a permanent burden to society.

The vast majority of homeless that are homeless for more than a year are mentally ill and drug addicted. There are no jobs for them until they stop taking drugs and there is some medication that can treat their mental illness. There are five types of homeless. The travelers, the illegal migrant worker, the workers that live in their vehicle because either they can't afford to or don't want to pay rent, those that temporarily lost their housing due to being kicked out or their housing was destroyed and the mentally ill/drug abusers. Your solution only helps one of them.
