Often two sides to these things. Mom took me and left my father, and she made visitation so tough on him, he just stayed away, after few court appearances. To this day, I can't remember any of those visits, and I'm told I ended up catatonic for days, after each one. Was Mom too harsh? I'd say no, as Dad and his family, were BS crazy. Dad had an irrational belief that I had to die before age 13, or he'd die. This was related to his own father dying, when he reached 13. He didn't mellow out, until I passed that age, and he hadn't died. Otherwise, I saw him once a decade, until I buried him. In winter 1990, my mom was hit by a car, while she was carrying groceries across the street, and my grandmother)dad's mom) got temporary custody of me for 6 months. During this time, I suffered malnutrition, enough so that my school teachers used to save me food for after school, in the teachers' lounge. She refused to provide me any medical care, until threatened with jail time, for felony abuse. Richest woman in town, but would let you die of a cold. Whole family on that side was just sick. I lived in terror of this man, for almost 40yrs, and had the grandmother from Flowers In The Attic.

It’s not just her. He didn’t refute it at all when she said she had the children’s and her phone numbers but never called the children. We can’t possibly decide which (if either) is a good parent by listening to their testimony. The children are obviously traumatized. A counselor or guardian ad litem should be assigned. Something very wrong is happening in one or both of these houses and it needs to stop. Forcing the children in this way isn’t good for them. I hope they are okay.

I think the Judge did a bad job. There is obviously something very wrong going on in at least one of these homes. It’s very likely that neither is doing a good parenting job. The children are traumatized. They need a counselor or guardian ad litem to help them with this. This may be parental alienation but it also may well be that there is something bad going on at dad’s house. It was telling to me that Dad didn’t disagree when Mom said he never called the children on their phones. And I could see that when Dad was ordered to stay at a motel so his son could go to his football game, Dad didn’t seem too happy. I think both parents could use parenting classes and family counseling.

@GoodnightJLH5 күн бұрын
Both parents referred to their kids as “my kids”. It’s sad. I do think that when children refuse visitation, there should be 3rd party evaluation with a counselor or guardian ad litem. Sometimes kids are choosing an overly permissive parent. Sometimes they are choosing a nicer house or closeness to friends. But they are often truly afraid of the other parent. We so often see videos on the Misery channel where kids are forced to have parenting time and end up in the hospital. I’m not saying that this man is abusive. But I do think the children need to be heard by an expert. If the mother is alienating the kids, then that needs to stop. If the kids are truly in fear of their dad then that needs to stop.

She is telling them they will be taken and never return and revving it up before he gets there so she can get a video opportunity trying to get them to go with dad. Most judges would allow a 14 year old to have some say in whether to go with a parent. And 14 year olds are too big for a mother to physically force them into their father’s car. These kids need evaluation by a counselor who testifies to the court or a guardian ad litem. Instead, the judge ordered this father to basically perform the work of a counselor if a case where the kids refuse to be with him.
