While I agree with many that it's truly sad she left the toddler to move out of State and be with someone else I have to give her some credit for not being a POS like many do to men and take the child far away and raise it with the new man and deny the father any visitation with the child and then let the child call the new guy daddy while collecting as much child support as she's allowed. Children do need both parents but maybe in this case the best thing she could have done was left the child with the one parent who will put the child first.

No one, man or woman, is REQUIRED to pay child support unless there is a court order to do so. And not every man who doesn’t have custody of his child is forced to pay child support. The other parent or guardian doesn’t always petition the court for child support and the court won’t do this without a petition unless that person starts to receive welfare benefits.

The details of return/default/sale of the car should have been spelled out prior to the contract. Me? I would be fine with just being reimbursed for any losses I incurred as a result of being co-signer. Any equity would go to the person I co-signed for. That’s assuming any defaults were discussed prior to such happening and matters handled in a responsible manner.
