More proof that Judith Durham could sing any type of music ever conceived of. If she encountered a tribe of natives chanting in their native tongue, Judith could join in. Becoming one of them in unison. That was her greatest gift. Inclusion. Gospel, Opera, FolkMusic, Blues or any other form of musical expression. This is why The Seekers would have become pop music's greatest group had she not separated from them in 1968. Nobody else in Rock or Pop Music possessed such gifts!! Clearly she never craved the limelight. Even though she stood out from everyone else like a Lighthouse in a storm. The most engaging, humble and versatile artist that ever existed. And not likely to be duplicated in an era of self obsessed egomaniac and Diva Deluxes. Rest in Peace Judith Durham. The most unique performer of them all.

Her voice can magically take me to another time, my daughters blond hair blowing in the wind, her blue eyes and smile looking at her father, giving this man a hug that felt like pure gold. That is gone now, but this magic of song let's this father close his eyes and have her with me once again., thank you for this gift of having my Shelly once again.

I fell in love with Judith in 1966. In 1968, when I was in college, I several times wrote "Judith Durham for President" on blackboards when no one was looking. I didn't care that she was not born in the USA. In fact, I still believe she would have made a better president than Nixon.

This is the best ever rendition of Amazing Grace I have ever heard by anyone. I just heard her do Just a Closer Walk with Thee and then listened to Patsy Clines version. My guts have been pulled out. Judith is one of my all time favorites as are the Seekers. Can you imagine had Patsy and Judith been able to do some gospel songs together or both of them with The Kingsmen, The Oak Ridge Boys, The Statlers, The Palmetto State Quartet or Gold City? Perhaps America would be Lord loving again.

Her interviews reveal her to be a very ordinary person. Just like the rest of us. Not unlike some gifted singer in your local choir. By leaving the Seekers she was in a way running away from the demands of great fame, or being content with just being an outstanding soloist. But who knows.

I think she might have wanted children in the sense of that being what in her circles growing up was what a man and woman normally did. But not in the circles she remained even after going on her own. She was, of course frail and that might have played a part. But here I am playing the game of wanting to “know” a celebrity. that gives them such power over us.

So many adoring comments here.... I feel I will be shot at dawn: I am a great fan of Judith...... But this left me a bit queasy. Not the Judith I love. Just not right.
@oswaldwellman78069 жыл бұрын
It saddens me that in a comments column of a song celebrating love and goodness, John Cox was vilified for observing the effects of time. It may be that he felt Judith, although still great, was better remembered by the recordings made when she was peerless. I was fortunate to hear her live in the late sixties, and have all the Seeker's LP's, and understand that view. Arguably, the greatest singer of last century, Dame Janet Baker, retired from opera aged 50, knowing even at this early age, her voice although still wonderful, was in decline. Having defended John, I take the opposite view with a madman claiming Judith was a fraud, and that her voice was "manufactured" in recording studios. He calls himself stuart booee godfree jenkins, and I encourage all Judith's supporters to try and rid him from the comments columns of her videos.
@lickeyhills9 жыл бұрын
+oswald wellman I saw the Seekers I concert in about 1964. We were in the stalls about row 10 and Judith's voice nearly deafened us without the need for any amplification. She is definitely no fraud, but only an idiot would suggest otherwise.
