Judo doesn't get enough credit in the martial arts world. I have found that it is a fantastic refinement of functional techniques, and it doesn't take much imagination to turn those techniques into ones that can do real harm (if ever necessary). I've also studied Yoseikan budo and qinna, and I feel like judo tends to be more concise and unmired by things traditional martial arts tend to get distracted by.

Agreed. It’s very powerful once it gets recalibrated for the street. Just ask John Wick ;)

@@StephanKesting that is awesome! Ando filled me in. Sounds exceptional! You know, this has all the makings of a backstory for a new Kung Fu style! Man disappears for 50 days. Learns the secret 'polar bear style'! Returns, completely transformed and devours all opponents who stand in his way! 😁👍

another good example how ridiculous rulesets can DESTROY ARTS... the art is made for defense. if i allow my mind to BAN a defensive move... i will get in problems...

Smooth stuff. Is there a name for that end sweep/throw?

She says it when she does it - O Soto O Soto something, gari, otoshi, I don't know what the variants are, but it's an outer leg reap/trip/throw
@syn3rgyz
@syn3rgyz 5 жыл бұрын
@@kanucks9 It's an otoshi due to the leg sliding down. But it looks like she was doing it due to wall being really close in the back and to let him down softly since a properly done osoto gari doesn't require much strength to whiplash your head onto the floor.

Nobody reaches for the left lapel in right vs right judo. What do I do FIRST if he gets my right lapel? UPVOTE if you also don't know the answer to this obvious question.
