Why aren't blast doubles as common in sambo as they are in wrestling?

The gi is very hard to get past. Even if you clear the hands they can still grab the back of the kurtka to stop your shot.

Exactly. Good grip fighting will shut down doubles. However, Rhadi Ferguson use to pull it off pretty well at times at the Olympic level. He usually hit it before grips though.
