Like I say in the end there are other variations. Wrestling does an arm spin. It’s a legitimate move in Judo and Sambo which are sports but they are combat sports not aikido dances.

It would behoove you to agree or disagree before asking more questions...just simple common courtesy. Krav Maga, Jeet Kune Do/MMA, Muay Thai, American Combat, Tai Kwon Do in desending order as shown with proficiency being equal.

I’d draw more eyes than Mikey and his corny pick up lines.

@@t.weber64kg Steve siroy, I believe he was champ in 1983 for pan am games and he got bronze in sambo world games (not sure of the year)

@@t.weber64kg yeah I think sambo Steve posted a pic with him years ago with Greg Gibson (Olympic silver medalist in Greco) and sambo champion, and also Paul Le Blanc multiple time sambo national champion. I believe US Sambo members from the 70s and 80s

I’m sorry but that’s not the case I have been grappling for 16yrs and am also a black belt in Judo. If wrestling isn’t practical then why did Nicky Rod succeed so quickly in BJJ? I don’t see how leg locks aren’t effective either.

I do after I achieve a world medal in Sambo. If I fail at getting a world medal I’ll feel like I failed all together

In no gi it works really well from an oblique grip. Thats when you go from a Russian tie and move the inside hand from the armpit to the far lat. it also works if the shoot to then grab their lat with one hand and an under hook with the other. After that everything stays the same. Another fun thing if you can’t finish and you elevate your opponent it leads to easy leg entries through inverting. I y’all too! Everything is going great and I hope it is for yall too!

In mma he can’t but scoot or he will be stood up so I would just make him stay standing and I highly doubt he could take me down Ive spent almost my whole life grappling standing. I think I have a better than 50% chance of winning. It would be a good match. I wouldn’t feel bad either because I’ve punched some personal friends in the face for fun at practice so doesn’t bother me lol.

@@t.weber64kg I am probably biased because I am not a fan of how Mikey conducts himself. However it seems a bit doubtfull if he will actually transition to MMA. He makes piles of cash by sliding around on his ass while engaging weak matchups in a ruleset that is basically build around his skills. (Gantumar was stalling in his closed guard and the ref literally reset them and warned Gantumar). Tonon appears way better equiped for MMA but even he seems to struggle to find reliable ways to make his grappling work.

I agree I can’t stand his style of grappling and even Tonin got knocked out for going for leg locks. I doubt he will actually do it too but I think I would make for the most interesting match up if he does.

I think it’s just because some of the best Sport Sambo guys don’t have a big incentive to get into mma because they are usually far behind the life time combat sambists. Also the best sport sambo competitors in the eastern block are paid to just grapple so why get punched in the face. Thank you man I hope this can gain some traction.

Marina Mokhnatkina is in MMA. But for most high profile Judo players or Sambo players it does not make sense.

there aren't many techniques from Sambo that came from Sambo that hasn't come from a different martial art, Sambo itself is a hybrid of various forms of Grappling martial arts and even some striking
