Chadi, I'd like to hear him on your channel in an interview. I still see Judo as more subtle y efficient but the Mongolian Wrestling looks very hardcore. Mongolians are such wonderful people w/such interesting culture. Their incredible throat singing, hunting w/eagles, impressive archery, excellent horsemanship and powerful wrestlers.

I love this. I developed a couple foot sweeps working as a bouncer (shoes and a suit mostly using nogi grips for sweeps or a belt/back of pants/underhook grip for koshiwaza) and I've always felt a big difference using footsweeps IRL vs on the mat... creating big body rotation and feeling the time to "kick" = totally great way to understand the difference. As always thanks for the work you put in, you're killing it man
@Eric3Frog

I’d like to hear more about your adaptations for bouncing/IRL. Thanks for sharing this one!
@kcmacdonald
@kcmacdonald 3 жыл бұрын
@@Eric3Frog unfortunately I was "barely trained" (less than a year each judo and muay thai, with some karate, Trad JJ and sumo) when I started in that industry, and most of what I did when things got real rough looked like a sloppy combination of combat sambo + lethwei + sumo... And the easy ones look like a "compliant martial art" or you talk someone in to compliance through a joint manipulation (mostly you just talk them in to leaving, but "verbal judo" is not today's topic) Sometimes you get a good grip on a bigger, "diminished", athletic fellow and you're in for a rodeo ride with a big throw at the end, while the guy is either trying to hit you OR death gripping you OR you've broken/avoided his grips and taken the the angle that makes you look like a ninja with the footsweep/hip throw Now I train my striking all the time and grappling whenever the gyms are open (thanks to covid) I'd love to find a sambo or Bokh style grappling competition but in my country they are rare. Fortunately my BJJ coach is a combat sambo monster, but the gyms are open sporadically here If I had to give one suggestion for making things work IRL, its STRIKING and SHOVING. I shove people all over the place in standup grappling, and sumo slaps have set up some of my best real life throws The russian casting punch to a headlock hip throw, or a jab to open punching an underhook are magical

@@Chadi Hey, thanks for your answer. I did some judo when I was 21-22, then switched to bjj and submission wrestling, been doing it for 5, almost 6 years. I was thinking of trying judo again, because I thing bjj misses the fundamentals which come from judo, such as ukemi and the transition from standing to the ground. They barely train ukemi. I wrestle 1-2 every week where I train my ukemi, but I think pure bjj guys kinda miss half of the art.
