With the Tokyo grand slam coming up do you want to do a breakdown of Japanese Kumi kata. I just want to see to how they think and what's the main purpose of their judo. You don't have to I just love the breakdown vids

I think Sasae is to the sleeve side (like in the kata) and Hiza is to the lapel side? Other than the obvious foot placement, that is. Sasae they "trip" over your foot (since it is a blocking technique similar to Taiotoshi) and kinda/sorta roll forward and Hiza you rotate about the axis of their leg?
@JudoHighlights2015
@JudoHighlights2015 Күн бұрын
Nope, because everyone pairs osoto and sasae together and you do it on the lapel side.

@@JudoHighlights2015 LOL ooops I must be weird because Osoto is one of my main throws since I was a kid and I do Hiza Guruma on the lapel side leg. You can shove their sleeve hand through with an elbow grip and get a ton of torque/rotation on their body. I do Sasae by stepping out and pulling their sleeve hand across their body and hit the sleeve hand ankle. Maybe this is just a case of semantics or maybe I have to go back and brush up on the Kodokan YT channel!

@ same here. A lot of techniques in Japan aren’t the actual names. Like seoi Otoshi for example. People could just be getting it wrong all this time

@@JudoHighlights2015 well I just went through the Kodokan videos including their "contrasting similar waza" and to be blunt, the guy is doing the same throw even though they describe it differently. He's hitting the knee like 50-60% of the time while doing Sasae. LMAO Oh, well. Off to find Muneta videos because I'm pretty sure that is where I learned about really thrusting uke's elbow through.

What do you think about calling that sasae/hiza guruma a harai tsurikomi ashi? Looked like there was quite a step and sweeping motion as opposed to just blocking. And do you not get hansoku make or something for when you throw your opponent on their head with drop sode like the georgian did around 9 minutes? Makes me wonder why that's legal while tori touching head on the mat in uchi mata is not. The guy getting thrown didn't even wiggle to not get scored on, with arms tied he was basically unable to impact any part of the landing as the georgian pulls him in a sharp angle head towards the mat.

yeah harai tsurikomi ashi is probably better. And, they've become much more lenient with the head diving.

I've been practicing judo for a couple of months, and when I train there's a guy who always gives me the mata leao (strangulation), is this allowed by the rules? since I don't see anyone doing it in ground combat, and I can't find anything in the rules, if anyone can answer me

@@euanmorse white belt like me, but he did a bit of jujitsu. however it seemed more like a mata leao to me, I was disconcerted because the ground fight lasted very little, even if I threw myself on the ground in defense it was enough for him to take me from behind and with the mata leao you can't escape, for this I wondered if it was legal as a thing, because in fact I've never seen anyone do it in judo and the fight would end immediately in some circumstances

@@oktestando6488Saw the same kind of this behaviour in Karate as well. In the beginner's league some think to prove their superiority. Changes by the years😉 Respect & the meaning of Randori has to be teached & learned as well. A responsible trainer shouldn't let beginners fight with each other! At least not without supervision. Much too dangerous as well.
