Judy Garland is one of the very few people who continue to matter to millions of people long after their death. I honestly do not know what we would do without these icons. Thank you for showing us this museum. I am pretty sure I will never get out to that part of the country, so it is a real gift to be able to see the place through your video tour.

I wonder if Judy ever knew just how much she is loved the whole world over. ❤️ Beautiful, amazingly talented lady. I still to this very day cry when I hear her sing somewhere over the rainbow. 🌈 I really hope Judy is resting in peace, after the life she had she deserves it. Thank you Jordan and Katie. ❤Jodie. 🇦🇺

Many thanks Katie and Jordan for this brilliant visit. The carriage really was a surprise, it is truly good fortune that MGM didn't reuse it after filming then just toss it aside. Great Vlog.

@@suejohnson5545 Many thanks for this interesting information. As overseas viewers we have followed Jordan for years and always enjoy his museum visits. However, time and again we have been surprised by the unique and historically important exhibits displayed in the smaller independent museums (as opposed to the larger widely known national ones). Once more, thank you for sharing this information.

Great video, Jordan. Such a powerful voice. I recently saw a video of Judy singing The Battle Hymn of the Republic on her TV show in honor of her friend, President Kennedy who had been recently assassinated. Before she started singing she said, “This is for you, Jack” but CBS cut it out. You could tell she poured her heart into that song and it puts chills down your spine to hear it. Wow! What the studio heads did to her is reprehensible. Thanks for vlogging this.

Touched the hearts and dreams of so many. Judy was more powerful than she allowed herself to enjoy, or I think, was truly conscious of. Fragile, dear, effervescent conduit of something quite golden, quite emotional.

Great tour! The Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite movies. Back when I was a kid, long before cable TV and DVD's, it was a big deal to get to watch Wizard of Oz once a year on TV. The kids would have a lot of fun acting out songs & parts of the movie during recess the next day at school. Since we only had a B&W TV, I didnt realize the movie was in B&W and also in color until I was an adult. Incidentally, if you watch the movie or look at photos, Dorothy's ruby slippers had actual bows that stood up and were attached on top of the shoes. The shoes in the pedestal display case don't really look like the ones Judy Garland wore in the movie, and the shoes in another case by the Judy Garland perfume were more similar but still not the same. It was great getting to see all the wonderful memorabelia in the museum. Thanx!

Fun fact 2: The book states the slippers are silver, but I believe that there was screen testing done not 100% sure on that part, and they decided to go with the ruby color as it showed on screen better🥰

Great vlog Jordan, thanks! Nice to see Katie too. I too have serious doubts as to the shoes being the original pair. Seems to me if, after being stolen and going through years of searching, I'd have them in a vault, behind bulletproof glass. That and yes, they look far too new, especially since there are others out there that have degraded and been restored.❤

Recently, I watched a video by Props to History in consideration of that particular carriage. According to the video, it was restored as it was used in over 200 films. However, in 1863, it was originally purchased by a group of businessmen and gifted to an individual named Abraham Lincoln. A plaque was discovered during the restoration process stating that alleged fact. You would think that would be mentioned there if that is the case.

Thank you, Jordan. You're always adding things to our "places to visit" list with your videos. About the Ruby Slippers... They had a pair for the dance scenes, a pair for publicity pictures, a pair for filming close-ups, and a pair was given out in a sweepstakes that were screen-used and just about worn out and mismatched in size... Pretty sure this set was the one used in close-ups.

One thing that is confusing to me is that Debbie Reynolds had (or still has) the slippers. They don't seem like something that the studio would just give away, Debbie Reynolds or not. Also it's strange that she had all that old studio equipment which we saw when you visited Todd. Again, it seems strange that the studio would just give all that historical stuff to Debbie Reynolds.
@DazewithJordantheLion7 ай бұрын
There were 5 pairs.. the slippers that Todd has now are not screen used. They were made from the box of materials that made the original ruby slippers, and were a gift later on in life from the studio to Debbie. Debbie had the pair that were in the museum, but she said were stolen from her.. she also had the Arabian pair, a prototype of the first version of the shoe, but those were sold in her auction.
@nowaynohow12757 ай бұрын
@artiebrewt3170 Strange as it seems, the studios were well known for throwing away props, costumes, sets and anything they decided was in their way. Debbie Reynolds stated herself she knew these items should not be trashed so she started asking for it. They all thought she was crazy and laughed as they basically handed it over to her. If you ever get a chance, watch Jordan's vlogs about Debbie Reynolds done as a stand alone and the ones done with her son Todd and his wife Catherine Hickland. The stories about the old Hollywood are amazing

Those are not the originals my opinion. Judy's were well worn. Debbie Reynolds shoes are real ~ she knew it as Judy and Debbie had the same size shoe and Debbie herself said she tried on the shoes before purchasing ( sz 4). These look too pristine ~ not to say they aren't real, but maybe a pair that were not worn?? Thank you for sharing this video 💖💖

They did make multiple pairs of the Ruby slippers but the ones in the case aren’t it. They’re too big and wide, and also if you look at the bow it’s not accurate to any of the originals. The bow has glued stones, not sewn on like the originals that were made and the center stones are too big. They still look good and beautiful but not accurate.

Quite underwhelming, in my opinion. Nothing from her concert and television era, no dresses, no hats, no LP's, no posters, no microphones. And this stuff exists in the hands of private Judy fans, I'm sure they would gladly donate something. But thanks for the video!
