Ute Lemper sings it beautifully, what is astonishing with young Judy is the maturity of her voice, she was fantastic!

Judy Garland always brought a haunting emotionality to any song she sang...

Judy had such a hard life I believe she was singing from her heart!

She brings Judy to it, and it's fine. She can't fail, really.

Nice one from Judy.

The poignancy of the song fits Judy's voice and her life. The lyricis by Ogden Nash, the music by Kurt Weill

Judy Garland was amazing in singing any song she chose to sing for us. I have heard Mary Martin and Lotte Lenya covering this song, and Judy’s version is second to neither artist I mention here.

Mary Martin didn't cover Speak Low, she created it in One Touch of Venus in 1943.

@@princeandrey Mary Martin "created" Speak Low, everyone else including Lotte Lenya did covers, IMHO.

The arrangement takes away the intimacy of this fine tune.

Didn't know she ever performed this? (Intense vocal but somewhat curious arrangement.) Radio ?

I love Judy, but I think she is too young to sing this. Great phrasing, though, This songs needs someone who has been around the block romantically a few times. Peggy Lee's version is fantastic.

Try Sarah Vaughan's for what you seek in the singer of this particular song. Ella Fitzgerald has a nice version with Joe Pass. Diane Schurr has a good version also.

She was almost 22 here so she had been married once at least, and I think one could say she had been around the block romantically several times. Sounds wonderful to me!

That's nothing. Susan's sister is collecting your DNA and using it to estimate your IQ and to map your extended family. Just for starters. Imagine what they could do if they paired 23&Me with Google's Data? And I think they're married in to Facebook ownership as well.

As is Mary Martin who introduced it. Judy's version is basically lovely, though I don't like the arrangement especially the swooping at the end.
