If you ever make one for a 2006 iMac I will be your first buyer. I’m not kidding. My 17 inch 2006 iMac is my favorite computer of all time.

I'll be second in line 😆 There's just something about that era of Macs that Apple has lost today!

1st, love this - and know that you're currently working on this and other 2011 iMac devices... however, just thought I'd mention that 2017" iMac owners compute is starting to run long in the tooth - and it's display, a full 5K just like the brand new iStudio, is twice as nice as the 2011 model - I would love to see a board for it - it has USB-C, and other current ports and man o man... am subscribed to see ALL that you continue working on!! 1 vote for 2017 iMac!! :P

LOVE THIS!! If you could do something similar to the 27" Thunderbolt Display and update the 2.0 USB A ports to USB 3.x or even better, USB-C ports that would be awesome. Also maybe update the Thunderbolt 2 cable to USB-C with PD for a true one cable solution to charge a MBP. As for the Thunderbolt 2 connector, that's still very useful with Apple's Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adaptor, but if the USB ports can be updated to USB-C with Thunderbolt, even better! I would totally buy that upgrade in a heartbeat.

Simply awesome! I would be super cool having only one cable connection but I think this is done by your DockPro version, am I right?

maybe do a one cable solution and utilize the original port holes for the new hub from your board. and the 2017 imacs please

This supports the camera right? Does it also support the build in microphone? And do these also work when connecting to a windows work laptop? Thanks

Is there any backwards compatibility for these, like will the connecters line up with say a mid 2010 iMac?

This is awesome, definitely intrigued in this, however what’s the difference between the lite model and the pro model?
@Pendleton115
@Pendleton115 4 ай бұрын
The DockPro is intended to be connected with a single USB-C cable and includes a couple additional features such as PD charging and faster USB speeds. The DockLite is the budget friendly option which is connected with three separate cables. The DockPro is still in active development whereas the DockLite is available to purchase now.

Hi guys, nice product! Can I ask if I can connect the iMac after installing the lite dock to a MacBook Pro M3?

Yes! Using the USB-C to Mini-DP Version of our DockLite will allow this. Please note limitations of your MacBook Pro and the number of displays you can connect concurrently

Hello, just received and installed my Juicy Crumb, I got it working without too many problems … a couple questions : 1) what does the IR thing do behind the Apple logo? 2) what is the 2nd USB-C cable for? I am using the main display port (USB-C) and the Audio cable which works perfectly fine when connecting a PC

Hi there! The infrared sensor in conjunction with third party software allows you to control your connected Mac using a TV remote. We will link recommended software on our web site shortly. As for the USB cable, this handles USB data between your host device and DockLite, allowing you to use the Webcam, SD reader and IR sensor as well as the integrated USB hub. Don’t forget you can also control your display brightness in software using the Juicy-Link applet! Glad to hear the installation went well, thanks for supporting Juicy Crumb! :)

Any chance a version for the late 2014 27" 5k iMac could appear one day?

We do aim to expand to other iMac models in the future! However we're a small team so right now our focus is solely on the 2011 27", so I can't tell you if or when we might get to that particular model.

i am interested in this and beyond connecting a Mac ... i am interested in connecting a PS4 or PS5 console. since the board looks to have a mini-DP for input, i assume I need an HDMI to mini-dp cable and/or adaptor in order to make this work? can anyone confirm? thanks!

The iMacs internal display functions using Display Port signaling, Adapting HDMI to Display Port is quite costly and difficult but not impossible. However we would recommend against using it in this configuration.

It would be rather helpful and protective, if JCrumb could tell us in the video, how the power supply could be discharged before installation to avoid any injuries.
@juicy_crumb
@juicy_crumb 9 ай бұрын
Computer power supplies cannot safely be discharged in a conventional sense, although much of the lethal current will dissipate after thirty minutes of being powered off and un-plugged from the wall. However some charge always remains, so it is always best to use caution when working around an exposed power supply. Hope this information helps!
@desembrey
@desembrey 8 ай бұрын
@@juicy_crumb One of the first things drummed into our heads back in the mini computer sys op days was "never think of working on a cathode ray tube, no matter how long it has been sitting unplugged!" - and we learnt the same for computer power supplies. Cover the thing with a chunk of cardboard held in place by bluetak if you must.
@juicy_crumb
@juicy_crumb 5 ай бұрын
@@desembrey speaking from experience, the bluetak could be used as a conduit to discharge into and is not recommended. A recommendation is that once the power is disconnected from the old unit, pressing the power button several times and waiting 30 minutes will dissipate charge. This is not applicable if the power supply is damaged or malfunctioning prior to upgrade and you should refer to a technician for assistance to replace the power supply if this is the case.

amazing that you gave NO help in identifying the myriad of little cables to be reconnected (do we GUESS) - surprising to me if you're selling these boards that you would omit that essential info
@juicy_crumb

Each connector is keyed in such a way that they can only be plugged in to their respective socket. Their cable lengths are made to match up closely with their sockets location, so plugging each connector back in is easier than it looks.

Why would you pay more than the price of a new display for this…
@desembrey
@desembrey 8 ай бұрын
Because the old iMac is a design of elegance and beauty - and has sufficient mass it doesn't wobble about on the desk like most new monitors do. Plus I don't want to just throw the thing out because the display card has gone toes up. And the speakers are quite lovely.
