I think a main reason for that is that Teddy was a member and the main producer… he kept the sound, vocal arrangement and the vision consistent across different members and albums. Most r&b groups don’t produce their own albums like that. Teddy is so involved with vocals, music and writing that the revolving members don’t affect Blackstreet like other groups changing members.

Man Dave Hollister just elevated that group to another level and with Teddy on the boards you can never go wrong... I missed Dave when he left... On that another level album my ish is, "I can't get you out of my mind."... And "before I let you go" is still in rotation.... Man I miss r&b... Teddy showed he can just make music with anyone.. Guy was so special and backstreet was special too... It's just hard to keep a group of grown folks together period... Put that with money issues and it rarely last...and constant line up changes just makes the magic disappear.. People connect with the original members and the constant changes definitely didn't help. Great music tho... Timeless.

He made the sound, he made the group - he is the foundation. He might not have the great vocal skills but as long as he makes the music I am totally okay with it because he created the sound we all love. The other member tour with the sound he created so to anyone saying BlackStreet can do w/o Teddy, they do not really know the history behind Teddy & his New Jack Sound.
