What's the other option, doubling magnus's weight? Or making a video where a man with 16s pr competes against a man with 63 sec pr both at their own weights? I think this was a fresh take at leveling the field and a lot of fun to watch.

@@outandabout259 In regards to pure grip strength, that was a good attempt at leveling the playing field.But usually I feel that challenges like that are unfair. For example, I am a 120+kg and I could train to get to 50 pull ups. And I feel It would be unfair to put a 70 kg guy who could do 50 pull ups and just put extra weight on him, If he never trained pull ups with additional weights. Because he wouldnt't have the muscle mass for it.

@@masterd_flabz7043 You could for sure get to 120KG weighted pull-up as a 70KG guy. Ofcourse +50KG on weighted pull-ups are not a feat anybody will make, but for sure doable for some. Eg. I hit 2 reps of +37,5KG weighted pull-ups as a 63KG guy 2 weeks ago.

The point that I poorly tried to make is that pitting people in two different weight classes against each other, while trying to create fair conditions for them is hard because of different factors that comes in to play, like recovery strength, size and so on.That's why weight categories exist. So I think that people should treat this kind of competitions purely as entertainment and not seriously, because I know that there are people out there who will take it seriously. thats it. I'm just a Construction worker from Canada 🇨🇦 and I just did a hanging challenge with my son and his friends from a suspended ladder. They lasted 15 -45 seconds at 145lbs. I weigh 180lbs and hung on for 5 minutes.... I should tattoo "Vise Grip Pat Pending" on my hands!😅

People don’t seem to realize, the body weight does not correlate with physical strength. Strength is based on muscular density. And how you develop those muscles accordingly. There are people who weigh 130 or 140 ibs who can lift just as much weight as a bigger and heavier person can. Heck, look up the once 14 year old power lifter? He was 129 ibs, yet he can deadlift more than his father who is a former competitor and he was much MUCH bigger than his son.

They should have also adjusted the diameter of the grip based on hand size to make all things a little more scientifically equal. A wide grip with small hands is exponentially more difficult than holding on to a thin bar.

We've done that several times. So we tried the opposite.

@@jujimufu It's not quite right though because a band is always pulling up, non-linear force... You can get it roughly equivalent but it's impure. If you had a pulley system hooked up to your grip loader plates you can get the weight offset exactly, no matter where he is in the range of motion.
