The idea of Yuki being Saori’s mom makes complete sense. There’s no real evidence that contradicts the theory tbh, and it would be an interesting way to tie her into other characters. What’s funny is I’ve also seen theories about Yuki being Yuji’s mom as well although they’re less believable. Guess she gives off that mommy energy lol Akutami definitely includes certain characters’ lines for a reason, so it would be great to see if there’s significance behind the “what kinda girls do you like” thing

I think we shouldn't be forgetting that Nobara just found out that Shoko is close by. What if she destroyed that part of her face herself so that the mutation wouldn't spread throughout her body, knowing that Shoko might be able to heal her up afterwards? Wasn't expecting a 40 minute video by the way! A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. I suspect you hit the nail right on the head with the Yuki connection too, great lounge as always!

As much as I don’t want Nobara dead, I’m not sure I’d be 100% happy with another character having a death scene established and then coming back (referring to Yuji). At that point I’d just wait for Megumi to have his own “impending death” moment. Glad chapters come out early next time because I’m not sure what the satisfying solution to this would be

Chapter 124 page 16 Yuji punches Mahito into the wall right next to a door in front of the sign in the roof, yea? It looks like he runs towards Nobara and then Mahito activates his technique. Now on chapter 125 page 17 it looks like he stopped running and walked as if he’s in shock already knowing what’s about to happen to her. Nobara remembering what happen in her past could have taken seconds maybe 1 or 2, idk probably not but Mahito’s double is no longer there. It looks like there’s blood behind Yuji starting at the wall and barely touching the door. Now if the Curse Spirits and Geto had the intention to finish on Halloween, they would’ve had a plan to get out of there as soon as the clock hit 12, right? So Uruame knowing Sukuna could mean Uruame is pretty formidable. Uruame could’ve made a curtain in which it took everything(being the curses, sorcerers, Geto and Curse Spirits) they brought with them and made it disappear. Mahito’s double being gone could mean Mahito’s also gone along with everyone else that was with them and evidence that they were there except for the dead bodies and destruction. Could Shibuya be over? Sorry in advance, I think I kinda started talking about other things but yea. Theory I guess.

So glad I found your channel, getting insight and theories from the translator himself is so much fun! The chapter was just a huge shocker. At first I wanted to lay in bed and cry but then I saw a bunch of people saying Nobara would survive and come back with an eyepatch or something. That idea sounds so freakin badass that I'm gonna go with that instead of crying xD And wow, your theory about Yuuki being Saoris mom might be spot on, would've never thought about that o.o I generally got the idea that we've seen Saori somewhere before but I dismissed that as just Akutami's female designs being all pretty similar in general. I'd be really hyped if it turns out the way you're theorising :)

What happened to nanami is exactly happening to nobara like when nanami's anime character design and voice actor was revealed, in the same week mahito killed nanami and when in the next episode kugisaki is going to make her debut this happened to her. And there is another similarity that has is, the reason for these two incident is mahito. God I hate mahito now I'm so pissed😤😤😤😡🤬🤬🤬😡😡😡🤬🤬😡😡😡🤬🤬😡. But still I'm feeling that akutami sensei won't kill nobara but instead will give her a eye patch won't let her die. Let's hope nobara doesn't die. It gonna be hard to watch the next episode.

Hi, Miles! Agreed. I think fans who say anything along the lines of "She'll be fine! She'll just use reverse cursed energy!" are going to be severely disappointed. "Reverse cursed energy" is supposed to be EXTREMELY rare for sorcerers. Shoko and Gojo are the only people we know that can do it. tbh, we don't even know if Shoko can use it on herself (maybe she can only use it on others?). I don't think she'll be dead but certainly in some seriously bad shape. It also presents something very traumatic for her as you say something mentally damaging.

There has to be an inciting incident for regular people too see curses right? Like being affected by one or being near death, do we know why kugisaki can see them?
@SteadyStudios4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Gabe. Great question. It’s still a little unclear how some people can see curses and some not. I’m not sure if a near death experience/being exposed to death is exclusively a reason but I imagine it could be one of many? As for Nobara, that’s certainly a mystery. There’s quite the gap between the flashback and until she goes to JJ High so something must have happened then!
@deliii3954 жыл бұрын
Nobara can't die, it would be shitty writing from gege if such a great character is killed off for reasons like say Yuji to lose his shit and go berserk. Also speaking about the ch. its interesting how the backstory was NOT from the perspective of nobara but for some odd reason it was from the perspective of fumi(who had no role to play until now). And even after the short backstory, we don't really know anything about nobara herself-how she was a shaman, her experience with curses etc, but rather we only got to know about Saori and fumi...it's very odd how this chapter played out...it gives the reader the feeling like there is a lot more to know...and what was shown to us as a "backstory" isnt the truth or atleast the entire truth, it was just the tip of the iceberg from the eyes of a normal human being-the mundane- who doesn't know anything about curses. Another thing that makes me think this is how when nobara speaks from her own perspective about her past in previous chapters, she says some dark stuff like "if I'd have stayed in that village, I would have died", not to mention her absolute lack of Mercy when killing curses or even living creatures who threaten her and her friend's lives...like the nobara/Yuji vs the brothers and how nobara tells Yuji that he has no right to judge her if he hasn't lived through what she has while also comforting and reassuring him of his own actions.
@SteadyStudios4 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the insight, Devika. Thank you so much for coming by to watch and for being a subscriber as well! I completely agree. The idea of killing off Nobara at this stage would be wildly inappropriate on so many levels. There's nothing to say that characters like her HAVE to stay around but it would be completely against the "JUMP standards" and extremely offensive to the character (leaving her without any concrete growth of backstory) and seriously taint the series. A "mistake" which I've talked about so many times recently based on the fact it doesn't really serve any purpose. It would only end up in two bad scenarios. 1. Yuji has a mental breakdown and another one of the most popular characters in the series is gone. 2. Yuji goes nuts (but we already saw this when Nanami died) and would probably lost anyways because you don't win in JJK by "going ape$hit". Akutami-Sensei is certainly the one coming up with the story and wonderful entertainment but at the end of the day, it's a business as well. I feel like she might be out of commission but following through on killing her would see some SERIOUS backlash. I imagine a decision like that would have to get approval from several people and I cannot imagine Shueisha giving the green light for such a move. Not to mention the timing would be incredibly inopportune with the anime. I was actually a little disgusted by the way Nanami was killed in the same week as his voice actor being revealed and the character coming to life for the anime. It left a bit of a bad taste in my (and I'm sure many other people's) mouth.

This chapter!! I'm about 97% sure Gege wouldn't kill his heroine, but the 3% that wouldn't put it beyond Gege to make us suffer that much was still very worried... I was very impatient to see your video on this chapter because I found it held hints of so many interesting plot points, and I wasn't disappointed! It was so observant of you to notice about the passage of seasons in the flashback -- I hadn't noticed at all. And your hypothesis about Saori is so very interesting! It's true that she does look like Yuki; to me, anyway, there's no chance in hell that her mother's isn't a shaman, so your own observation confirmed it. I love your remark about Yuki asking about the "kind of girls that you like"! If Saori mother was rich enough to afford to build/buy a gigantic house in the middle of the countryside, a "normal" wealthy daughter wouldn't be stuck in an office job like Saori seems to be, I think; she'd have had tutors or she'd have been sent to an expensive private school. Plus, in urban fantasy law, anytime someone describe their parent as "deep into spirituality", it means "actually a wizard." (It's not even a good answer. "Why did you move to the countryside?" "Because my mother likes spirituality and stuff") I think Saori might have been sent to the countryside not for protection from shamans but from curses. Gojo points out that curses are less numerous and dangerous in the countryside; when the villagers' hatred-bred curses grew too strong, Yuki/her mom moved her away. She might have been a window or someone with weak power/who wasn't mentally able to fight (Gojo, again, points out that not every shaman has the "craziness" to fight), so her parent moved where she wouldn't have to see them all the time, especially since a) Curses become hostile when they notice you see them b) There's not enough shamans to have a bodyguard for each kid shaman. That would also tie in with Saori's weird remark: that she seems so tormented to have become "an ordinary person". While people can be "ah, I didn't think I would be here at this point in my life", Saori here seems to have held herself to higher standard? Like someone, for instance, who might have had useful powers to fight curse but not enough craziness to use it (just like Nanami became a businessman for a while.) I'm not surprised that she'd put in an act for Nobara and I don't think it's that bad either. Every teenage kid set in front of small children will try to act more mature! And what Nobara seems to have admired about Saori was less her refinement than her kindness and prettiness. So maybe Saori's beating herself up about "she'd be so disappointed" while Nobara would rather be glad. One thing that makes me sure that Nobara's not dead is all the mystery on her side (and I'm so, so glad a female character is given that much mystery). Her parents seems absent or passive enough that her grandma can weigh on her leaving home (well, grandma might be head of her family?). She must have seen curses at that age, but she's iron-willed enough that she doesn't show it. Also? Her technique is specific enough that she can't have discovered it on accident. It's almost like it was knows and documented, like a family-specific technique... Which might explain why one of her attack is weirdly called "hairpin" when it doesn't involve a pin? But if you're thinking about a woman with hairpins in her hairdo... (wasn't the strawdoll technique also more typically feminine? (also, fun fact! Victorian ladies actually used their hatpins to defend against attacks/harassment going too far, to the dismay of the outraged male public.) So I see your wild theory and raise you with this one: Yuki, who's interested in making humans into shamans, came to try to approach a family specialized in investing cursed energy into other things (Nobara's attack consist of imbuing nails with her energy and making the energy flow into her adversaries). This family is possibly matriarcal, hence the power held by Nobara's grandma in a world which seem traditionally male-dominated; hence, too, the fact that Nobara was encouraged so fiercely to be herself. It doesn't go anywhere, though, so she ends up leaving. THERE, I WEAR MY TINFOIL HAT WITH PRIDE. On a more general note? I love the way Gege writes women. The allusions to period was pretty bold in a shonen magazine, and it's so on-point -- I can't think of a better way to describe a place with no privacy than the fact that even your body functionings are almost instantly know about. The reflexion about refinment and trying to impress other -- Saori, the "dream girl", being actually a very real woman with pimples and self-esteem issues (let's be real: dream girls in shonen are usually either super perfect, mostly super-evil; the plot twist here is that she's a person). Fuumi, Saori and Nobara are three very different female characters, all shown equally valid, and I love it. Thank you very much, as always, for your insight!

Yuki Tsukumo being Saori's mom makes complete sense but I've always been a fan of her being Yuji's mom. Not for any particular reason and there really isn't anything to support this I just think it would be fun. The little eyelid detail that people will bring up is completely irrelevant but I've always thought that Yuki's face was very similar to Yuji's. Like I said, I don't have any reason for believing this I've just always really liked Yuki Tsukomo and thought Yuji and Yuki would have a fun dynamic.

You know I’ve always thought that Yuji would develop Reverse Cursed Technique partly because Sukuna can do it and partly because it fits his mantra of wanting to protect others, but I forgot about how similar the circumstances of Gojo learning it are to Nobara’s current situation. Would be awesome if Nobara learned to do it herself. Also love the Saori theory. It’s possible Saori and Nobara related to each other so well because they both possess the ability to see curses and Saori was the first cool person Nobara knew who could do it. I’m assuming Nobara’s grandmother is also a sorcerer and taught Nobara the techniques of their family, but she was probably mean/strict. Love the video!

I love your theory on Saori and Yuki! It really ties together pretty well, I'd say! I could go on a very, very long rant about how killing off Kugisaki would be the worst thing to do, but I already gave a lot of reasons under the the last JJK manga lounge, so I'll just list some new ones because I'm really passionate about this. First of all, Mahito would feel way too overpowered. He already killed Junpei, Mechamaru/Kokichi and finished off Nanamin, which is.... a LOT in comparison to every other antagonist up to now I think. Actually I can't even remember any other villain/curse killing off an important character right now........ Please correct me if I'm wrong though. Secondly - this is a pretty weak argument but still - Kugisaki's wound doesn't look like it's so deep as to reach her brain. Yeah, you can see her eyeball flying through the air, but I personally can't identify anything in the panel that looks like brain matter. Again, I could be wrong, but I would like it better if she just got an eyepatch than a funeral..... Furthermore, Fushiguro survived his Kamikaze move and Ino survived Papaguro full frontal, so why shouldn't Kugisaki survive Mahito? Sure, they're not exactly in the best state either, but still.. I'm apologize that it's so long if you're still reading, but I am very very passionate about this topic. Kugisaki and every other JJK girl are so great! I'll keep it short, but they're basically feminist icons in Shonen Jump! They aren't just the love interest or the damsel in distress, they are actual characters!! And I love that so much about JJK, it's one of the things that make the series so... revolutionary almost! I know I'm making it sound very dramatic, but I think I won't be able to forgive this death, it would be a huge mistake in my opinion. But to sum it up, I am still 99% sure that she is not going to die. Please Akutami-sensei, my heart wouldn't be able to take this after Nanamin already died-- Ah, also I loved the video as always! This kind of length is actually something I personally like a lot! It was very insightful and interesting! Thank you for your hard work!!
@pundabear694 жыл бұрын
Oh shoot, this actually is VERY long.. I'm sorry I can't keep it shorter haha.. But I also want to add that killing Kugisaki off on the same day as she debuts in the anime (the new chapter is set for Friday, if I didn't read it wrong--) would be pretty bad... Especially for new fans who might be spoilered, I'd say- I mean they would probably try to not get attached and that would be very sad imo... Iiiii should really stop adding even more things, maybe I shouldn't write all of this in the comment section, I'm sorry--
