Thank you for this overview! I'm looking for a machine that can sew through 4 thick layers of plush, faux fur. I was also considering the 1541, but it's like $700 more and while I do plan on sewing leather eventually maybe it's overkill for what I need, as it appears this machine can sew through some types of leather as well. I suppose anything thicker then I'll sew by hand.

Brilliant could you now do it on a smaller piece of leather please :o))

You are a highly recommended store. I am a bag maker and I use mostly cotton canvas, vinyl (light and thick), waterproof canvas, waxed canvas and cork. I may use light leather in the future. Would this machine be for me? Also, do you recommend a needle positioner in the machine? I’ve never had a machine without one but I know industrials are different.

Hi, I purchased a Juki DU 1181N the stitches on the bottom of the fabric are great. The top stitches on my faux leather fabric are showing loops. When making a box on faux leather the top stitch corners are not square. The stitches under the bottom of the fabrics looks great. I'm using a 4 stitch length, 135 x 17 (DP x 17) needle and I also tried tightening the tension. Can you provide me with other things to try? Thank you.

Hi! I'm having tension issues when transitioning from 4 layers to 6 layers. The thread on the bottom of the strap ( only in the thicker part ) looks loopy. What could be the problem. Thanks for your videos. They've been very helpful!

HI there, I just found this video because I am looking for a machine that is good for making bags, wallets , purses etc. ! I would like to use leather, faux leather/vinyl, cork, jeans and so on on the outside and (because of the nature of bags making) also multiple layers of cotton fabric etc on the inside. Which machine could you recommend for this kind of sewing?

I have a Juki 9000c…have had Ddl 5550N. I make costuming. Getting into making bags and other items. Love them both…but is this machine (1181)heavier duty than those two (9000c and 5550)….or is it just the walking feature that is the difference?

I have 9000c and only sew bags. Im thinking about this machine too. Im a bit struggle sewing thick fabric using the 9000c.

Would you recommend this machine for curtains, blinds and loose settee covers with piping ? Thank you for your time :0)

As long as they are medium weight and above. If they are sheer, a standard DDL-8700 would be better.

Is this machine really good for upholstery such as 2 half inch foams and vinyl
@Sewinggold3 жыл бұрын
Only if the foam can be compressed under the foot. The presser foot lift is a bit more then 1/2".

How does an 1181 compare to a 1541 I’m contemplating which one to buy and want to know the comparison
@Sewinggold Жыл бұрын
The DU-1181N is a top and bottom feed machine and the DNU-1541S is a compound feed machine. The DNU-1541S is more heavy duty too.

This is a video we made for a customer with a different question, but it will answer your question too. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iX6UhXdtpZ6BadU

When I purchase this does it come with the table and assembled? Also can I request bobbins and special feet that may be needed?
@Sewinggold3 жыл бұрын
We send our machine in 4 boxes from our Chicago shop. It does require assembly. We drill all the holes except the 2 for the bobbin winder. We send you links to our setup videos. If you want it shipped out with an assembled stand, we can do that too, but shipping is quite pricey because it ships by freight instead of UPS Ground. We do sell accessories too. You can request them and we can invoice you for them or you can call us. Thank you!

@@Sewinggold OK, I would need the easiest set up possible. My husband passed so I’m going to go at this alone. Is there a video on your KZbin channel that shows all the presser feet that come with this industrial machine and any accessories I may need for a bag making business?

What needle do you recommend for faux leather/vinyl?
@Sewinggold4 жыл бұрын
135x17 or DPx17. They are both the same needle class.
@gnelsonphotog6 жыл бұрын
You mentioned adjusting the presser foot pressure to alleviate marks on the fabric. I've had this happen with my DU-1181N when sewing super glossy vinyls. How exactly do you do that, and will it mess up the stitching? My tension is good, so I've been hesitant to touch any other knobs or settings.
@Sewinggold6 жыл бұрын
There is a silver thumb screw on the top left of the machine. Turn the thumb screw counter clockwise to reduce the pressure on the foot.
@gnelsonphotog6 жыл бұрын
Just the white one, or the big black one too? I loosened both.
@Sewinggold6 жыл бұрын
You can loosen both, but do not loosen the black one a lot.
@gnelsonphotog6 жыл бұрын
Woooooooops... I did. I'll put it back to the way it was and just loosen the white/silver knob instead.
