thanks for the help.I had gotten a 2010Q and the automatic threader wasnt working. I saw I could just pop it off and saw the tiny pin was off center. Now it works yeah!!

Thank you so much for clarifying that pressing the needle up/down button will get the needle in a perfect spot for the threader!!! I’ve been cranking it up higher thinking that would help, and lo and behold, it does not!!! Listen to Boki, the Juki Queen!

Am I doing something wrong because my threader stays down if my presser foot is down and I have to release some tension for the threader to pop back up ? Thanks in advance. Great videos

Your needle may not be in all the way or you may be using too small of a needle or too thick of thread thats causing it to get stuck like that.

LOVE your video it was very helpful!! Do you have a video on the adjusting the length of thread using the auto thread cutter? I have a problem with it pulling out of the needle. I was wondering if it is the type of thread that makes the difference? Thank You!! 🙂

The white tension nob at the very top will adjust that. It should be level with the screw. You could try to bend the pin to the right position, it is just very hard to see :/ Thats why its just easier to get a new one.

Needle threaders....I know that many love them and consider them must have's. For the amount of fuss to get one to work, I've always found it easier to just thread on my own (having so much experience with machines that did not have this). The Kirei needle threader takes up too much space as catches the thread particularly when FMQ. At least this TQ threader is more innocuous. Now, an auto thread cutter is a must have.

Someone said in some video somewhere because I’ve watched so many not to use cotton thread in these machines and only to use polyester. Something to do with how fast the thread goes through the mechanisms Cotton just shreds. Is this even remotely true? Because I have 18 rolls of cotton Aurifil

Not true at all. Cotton threads work great on the TL-18. Often times its cheap cotton threads and user errors. (Tension is very important) on this machine. Check out our tension video. The needle threader on my machine Never worked- not even from day one- and i just gave up on it... until today when I found this video... After your very concise explanation of how it works (the directions in the manual are awful), I examined the mechanism off the machine (who knew it was so easy to remove), and found the pin out of alignment. An easy fix with a pair of tweezers and voila IT WORKS BEAUTIFULLY - Thank you so much!!!

I just bought an 18qvp. I am trying to change the needle but cannot find the hole to insert it. I have the flat side to the right but literally can’t find the hole to insert. Even tried using a mirror. Help! Are there any tips

I've regretted purchasing my Haruka BECAUSE of the needle threader. I had heard that Juki improved the needle threader (had a Juki tl98) so I took a chance. I've never had an issue using the needle threader on any of the Janome machines I've had over the past 30 some years, No need to watch and rewatch videos, no need for awkward moving around of the thread, easy peasy every darn time, even with size 11s. Not so with the Haruka. So frustrating, After watching the video, I realize the threader may be broken (just like my spirit)

I think my pin is bent but I'm not sure I'm looking at the right place even with a magnifying glass! It was working just fine but after the last time I threaded it I couldn't get it to work the next time. I thought I had pressed the up/down but maybe not. I did practice removing it and putting it back. That was easy after watching this video. I hadn't changed the needle that came with my machine from the factory (didn't get it from JJ unfortunately) so I thought while I was down there I would change it and see if that could be the problem. Still didn't work so I threaded it with one of those "birds" and then did a test sew. My tension was all off!. So I put back the old needle and it was perfect again. One thing I've noticed is the learning curve on the tech side. I have a hard time - even though this is a "simple" manual machine. I'm not very strong and even untightening the screw to change the needle was a challenge and then finding the groove to put the needle back was a struggle. But, I suppose it's all good experience.

I also have a question about my other machine. HLK F300. the top thread is not able to catch the bobbin thread due to a small hook that the top thread gets caught on. I see the hook isnt moving out of the way. I'm pretty sure it's suppose to. thanks for any help. I wish I could show a picture or video.

Very helpful. do you have the the piece the needle plate is connected to. I already purchased the larger needle plate but struggled to connect (wrist injury). I figured if I had that already connected changing plates with other piece already connect, would be extremely easier for me.
