Great vid! I didn't know that about the topstitch needle. I'll definitely be getting some to have around in times of need. I just got a new TL-18 and just love it! The needle is inserted the same way as most of my vintage machines. 😊

I have that wonderful little needle book, wealth of information. I also, just buy “official Juki” needles and bobbins, keeps my life a little more simple.

Thank you for sharing this. I have a stash of the Schmetz assorted needles for all the types of fabrics etc.But somehow I'm stuck on using only the universal needle for everything with no issues. When I started learning to sew some years ago the universal needle was the only needle I used. I need to pull out the others and give them a try.😊

That is why I started with universal needles as my number 1! super handy needles, they are the do it all needle for the most part. A great one to have in your stash at all times, but definitely play with the more specific needles, may make your stitches look a little crisper 😊 -Boki

I need that book! Great information. I would also enjoy a discussion about getting the needle/fabric/thread triad thing right.

Thank you so much Boki and David, this was so educational. I want to branch out from quilting into bag and clothes making, but had no idea what needless to use. I’m definitely going to but the Schmeatz needle booklet.

Just a heads up that Schmetz makes Microtex 100/16 and 110/18 needles. I use them all the time when I sew with Tex 45 and Tex 70 threads for bag making.

Can you use two threads on the top with the TL machines? If so, what is the largest thread sizes to combined? I have the Haruka and does that make a difference in the double thread use? Great video. Thank you for sharing.

I just finished a bag that called for the use of double sided tape in several areas. I used the microtex needle and had to remove it several times to wipe down with alcohol wipe which was not that much of a problem, the needle sewed well. My question is, do I need to be concerned with my bobbin or bobbin case getting gummed up or do any additional maintenance when using dst?

Boki indicated largest Microtex needle is 90/14, but the Schmetz guide shows 100/16 and 100/18.

I buy the Schmetz Microtex 100/16 and 110/18 all the time. I use the 110/18 the most when sewing with Tex 70 thread. They’re great!

Great video, thank you! QUESTION: you mentioned bag makers but I am thinking you were talking more like cork or leather or things like that. I make bags out of cotton but I always use a fleece interfacing - would I benefit from a heavier needle or a denim needle?
@JukiJunkies
@JukiJunkies 9 ай бұрын
You would definitely benefit from topstitch and denim needles for sure!

Great information But do you carry hook and awl I use old Landis sewing machines #3 and Landis #1 Ok they are leather harness machines The thread I use is 346 top and 277 bottom. But still dreaming of the Juki TSC-441 Maybe you’ll do a program on industrial cylinder machines Thank you ❤

I was sewing on a piece that I appliquéd with heat n bond ultrahold and when I pivoted, my 2010 skipped the Stitchin the pivot. I changed to a topstitch needs but it still did it on one corner. What could I do to fix this. Thank you for this video 🙂🌵

Could be a few things: make sure your plate doesn't have any burrs on it so there any hangup or delay. Also, play with your presser foot pressure. :) -Boki
