Okay, this review is like over a week coming, so... It's a bit long. Just a tad. A lot of thought was put into this video all week. You've distracted me from all my responsibilities. Shame on you! But I really, really wanted to make sure my comment would be a fraction of as worthy as this video. I don't think I could ever express my gratitude for this. It's truly that amazing. I did consider doing my usual timecodes and reactions format, but I am honestly afraid that I would hit the word limit if I tried. So, here's a bit of an essay instead. First off, I just have to say, the attention to detail in this video is insane. Your scene choices are so on point and your parallels are impeccable. You truly understand Clara Oswald as a character, as a companion, and as my favourite character. You found the bits and pieces that were underrated but made her so _her_ with such ease, flowing from theme to theme in a way that leaves me gaping. The beginning, with the overlapping quotes about stories as Clara walks up to her death, goes to face the raven... It's a work of art by itself. Before even 0:15 I can feel the heart beating out of my chest with every rewatch, because it is _stunning._ And then you go into the, "What's this one?" What's Clara's story? Well, this video is about to take a deep dive into that question! And you start with the first theme: The leaf. Page 1 from her book. I always absolutely loved this little story back when S7 was airing. It was such a beautiful origin and it was weaved in and out of her early adventures so nicely. Then, you have all the gorgeous shots of her travels and her awe and development around 1:00. Her innocence, the craziness, the wonder. It really brings me back. Also, a tiny little side-step into the music. The way that the music begins to speed up and take a bit of a joyous melody just reminded me of how much I adore every single song you used. Instrumentals can be difficult to choose, but you did so perfectly. I love it _so much._ Then, you switch over to her determination to help people. Many thought her transformation in S8 and S9 where she essentially became the alternative Doctor was out of character, but it never really was. With just their first adventure, she was saving people even without the Doctor around. It was a second nature to her. The differentiation between the series was the level of confidence - she had a lot more experience by S9. You showed all of this beautifully. Oh, do I love some good hug montages. Brought a smile to my face! Next, we get into some of the darker parts of all the traveling. The bits where Clara realized it wasn't just all fun and games. It was twisted and full of death and destruction. She's handled all the pain surprisingly well, but you know it takes a toll on her. She's secretly terrified, even when she protests that she isn't. Yet, she accepts all of it. Through and through. One part that really got to me was at 3:45 when Clara said, "The Doctor will save us," only to then promptly cut to the time that the Doctor didn't save her. She trusts the Doctor so much, even when she shouldn't. You've laid out in this video all the reasons she would reasonably doubt him (him leaving her, pushing her, and his own push), yet she still loves him despite it. But then there's the added factor of Danny, who she love-loves. Two lives that shouldn't quite coexist, but Clara is determined to make it all work out. Only for it to be ripped away. "Life would be so much simpler if we liked the right people. The people we're supposed to like. But then, I guess there'd be no fairytales." This. Just _this._ Okay, MOVING ON. Clara's pain of losing Danny really got to her. It's obvious that it haunts her all throughout S9, even if it's with more subtle quotes, expressions, and reactions. Clara threw herself into her life with the Doctor. She cared little of the consequences. In a way that's a bit too dark for a family-friendly show, she essentially didn't care whether she lived or died. Yet, she still always believed in the Doctor. She believed that he would come back. That he would save her. And all she wants to do is impress him. Clara has always wanted to help people. She thrives upon it. Her life has always been centered on others - particularly, kids in her care. Joining the Doctor gave her a whole universe to go out and save. He pushed and she pulled. She took risks because she wanted to be just like him. She wanted him to be proud of her. She wanted to be proud of herself. It got to the point that she thrived in the danger. And it was all her downfall in the end. The part at 9:27 is such a perfect swell and sudden _stop_ that fits her death so well. She was pushing and pushing and pushing until - She just couldn't push anymore. She took a risk too large and paid with her life. The Doctor couldn't save her. She almost didn't want him to save her. She faced the raven with every little bit of courage she had. She died. And that was that. "She fell where she stood. It was sad. We had no right to change who she was." The Doctor did try, but he failed. Sort of. He did give Clara all the time in the world. She got a TARDIS and, in the end, became the new Doctor. She'll reach Gallifrey eventually, but she can go on her own adventures. She's the level of unbreakable she's always thought she was when she pulled her Doctor stunts. Honestly, her story is the most full-circle and poetic character arc I have ever seen. Every little scene and quote finds a way of connecting back to something else. You showed that so beautifully and I cannot get enough with it. And ending with Clara's Theme? Demonic. I just want you to know that this is the best Clara Oswald character study I have ever seen. You understand her so well and you tied everything together beautifully. I'll be replaying this every moment I get until the end of time. I'll have it playing at my funeral. Thank you.

Awwww, thank you so much! Woow, I feel like I don't have an adequate enough of an answer for such a kind and thoughtful comment! Thank you! I am so so over the moon that you are so happy with this video ♥️ Reading your comment made me smile a lot! And Clara is such an interesting character. The more I look at her or the more I revisit her episodes the more I feel like I see her and the more little details I find about her. It's the best feeling.

I'm too late on seeing this, it's absolutely wonderful! Clara is seriously one of the best things that ever happened to Doctor Who in my opinion, she had such depth and Jenna was a wonderful actress that I have not stopped following since she exited the series.

I... enjoyed it even more on second viewing? I didnt think it was possible, but I got an even better appreciation of what you did, of the progression of the whole vid and the different nuances you wanted to express. I've told you before, and I'm telling you again: it's gorgeous. Outstanding. You can tell just how much work, and thought, and heart went into the whole thing. You just are an absolutely brillant editor ♥

Lol, you're making me out to be some kind of a genius and I'm just over here raising my hand and going "🖐️ Excuse me, what nuances? Where? I'm confused. Is anyone else confused? *looks around* Graham: I'm way beyond confused." But nice try, and despite everything I am *really* glad you enjoyed it so thank you ♥️

@@JulaMisiak Excuse me? lol well, for one, the positive aspects of her relationship with the doctor as well as the most insidious ones? her strong, inspiring personality, but also her extremes? that's what I mean by nuances, you dollop head *edit: I removed the "brillant" before dollop head, you make me pass for a liar so you don't deserve the "brillant"

Okay this comment is coming WAYYY too late but in all fairness this video is just so good it feels impossible to put into words ahaha. Every video you make is absolutely incredible (of course) but there’s something so special about the level of planning this must’ve taken, the songs you chose, the parallels all the way through, the perfect representation of Clara’s character. You’ve really done her justice!! There aren’t many videos that can hit you right off the bat but choosing her walking towards her death with all those voices echoing in the background was certainly something OOF. THEN circling back to all the leaf parallels after it,,, it’s just a lot *cries* 0:44 the painting parallels uGh I love how the next part is just Clara discovering all these places and aliens and the joy of getting to travel and see them all because you just FEEL that joy with her along with that perfectly magical instrumental. It feels like a whole bunch of random scenes and yet you’ve strung them all together to mean something so important?? 1:43 all the parallels of her supporting people she cares about and helping out people she doesn’t know... she was so kind *cries again* 2:03 ALL THOSE HUGS 2:20 the perfect transition from happy to angsty *chefs kiss* 3:10 that scene was SO well placed All the parallels of her thinking she’s about to die HELPPP 4:12 it’s a promise// love is a promise// I love you// YOU’RE ACTUALLY EVIL FOR THIS ONE 5:00 the transition from that scene to the next one deserves an academy award All the Clara/Danny scenes wHY MUST YOU MAKE IT HURT SO MUCH??? 7:08 THIS LINE. NOT THIS LINE AJSKSKS Ooh and now we’re getting to the real scary part (Clara paralleling the doctor) It’s crazy how many people say her death didnt make sense when you’ve found THIS many scenes proving that her character was always going to end up going that route. It’s so sad but it’s true. 8:54 AND THERE IT IS 9:28 the way everything just stops here AHHHHH 9:33 anyone who’s made it to this point without crying at least 10 times is not making it another second The last section was absolutely gorgeous and so emotional. Ending it on those quotes about songs as well was just spot on. I feel like I know her character a million times better than I did before honestly. You should be extremely proud of this!!

Ok, so I will leave a comment with sense now. I am still recovering but let's try it. So, I will begin by saying that I actually missed your work and you already knew I was waiting or how but it blew me away completely. This is such a complex tribute of her and not just by the length of it but because of sll the layers you uncovered, especially my favourite one:Clara becoming more and more like the Doctor. The first part is more chill, but still very beautiful and lovely and then around minute 3 it hits you in the face. In the best and worst way possible. I wish you could marry a video so I can marry this one 💜❤️💜❤️💜❤️ Oh, and as a side noteI liked that you finished the video with 'this song is over ' cause it reminds me of another quote. Clara's story will never ends.
