Whenever I undergo a big life change, I think about this Virginia Woolf quote: “The past is beautiful because one never realizes an emotion at the time. It expands later, and thus we don't have complete emotions about the present, only about the past.” Wishing both of y’all the best in this next chapter!

Honestly, this is one of the most touching conversations I’ve been privy to witness. Thank you both for your honesty and being willing to share your beautiful friendship with us. I think of these times of great transition as a season, but not in the way that we are often encouraged to think of as one of four (never to return), but one of the repeating rhythms of life, without limit to quantity, but rather a moment that may come again. Your sweet love for one another was very heartwarming to see. I’m deeply grateful to have spent this hour with you.

Hannah, I've been watching you since day one. Literally day one, I found your channel when someone posted about your first video on r/makeuprehab , and although I myself never had a spending problem, I found your eloquence and elegance so magnetic. Watching you grow has been such a beautiful experience, and I can't wait to see what you and Joe do with the new house. I don't know if you remember, but in one of your early videos, you talked about Lady Lazarus by Sylvia Plath. Years later, It's still my favorite poem, and I'm even a redhead now, if just from a box. You've had such an effect on my life, I've gone from seventeen to twenty one and devoured every piece of content you have made. When you did a video on how you did your hair, I wore my hair up while i slept because thats what you said you did. I remember every scenery change. I guess this is just to say Thank you. Thank you for starting a channel and continuing and just being Hannah. You will always be a large part of my ideal self

Love to see your friendship; you both are so funny. I think there is both Frog and Toad inside us all. I'm looking forward to how your videos evolve, Hannah, especially fashion-oriented vids. I hope the changes your making brings in a bigger audience--it still baffles me that you don't have tens of thousands more subscribers than you do.

This is such a great video. And Julia’s description of nostalgia and the shifting of time is often how I feel. One of the things I am trying to learn is to accept when moments pass and not try to hold them in a death grip. And her description of having a baby is something that has ALWAYS awed me. Babies growing up is WILD. The Rona was/is insane but such strange beautiful gifts emerged from it.
@embellishmarin46472 жыл бұрын
Accepting the passage of time with grace is something I’m forever trying to fully acquire. I just want to clutch it all in my heart jealously, refusing to let go, a miser of memories and perpetually trying to banish the sadness that comes when something special is over. It’s a struggle but I keep at it.

I’ve wondered, “How’s it going?” many times over the past year of watching your videos, and now that I have seen this video I don’t think I would’ve truly believed the answer in any other format. What a beautiful kindred spirit you have in Julia! She is not even interested in many of the beautiful things you love, but she strengthens you to love them more. And you validate her experience as a mother by standing next to her and nodding in similar awe at what has unfolded in the last 18 months with the Baby. You are sisters, and this is normal. I am a homebody, and I cannot abide the idea of living with another family. I think I would do it instantly if I thought it could be THIS. What a vision of friendship and generosity and real morning grumps and baby jokes and being a better self because of the people around you. Thank you for sharing what feels sacred because it’s actually real. 💗

It's been such a privilege to be privy to your relationship and growth. In a weird way your journey through the pandemic has provided timestamps for my own. To see you at a low low and then transcend that has been wonderful and inspiring. Oh my gosh Hannah. That “You did it!!” From baby emulating mom reminds me of when my youngest son was little, probably 4-5. We were in the car and had just finished running errands. I had just buckled him in and was buckling myself in.. and said, mostly to myself, “I am SOOOO..” and was about to say “hot” because I run hot and I’m lazy so activity makes me hot 😂 At the pause, he finished my sentence “proud of you!!” And I couldn’t help but laugh, because of the dozens and dozens of times I told him I’m so proud of him , he thought that’s what I was going to say. ❤ So I was like, “I sure am, bud! I’m also hot! 😅” lol

Also, I lived with my lovely friend for some time and helped her with her three sweet babies. And even though they are all grown up now, they are still so important to me, and I can see how that time punctuated both their lives and mine, and as you said, made a family. It’s alchemy, and such precious magic.

What a beautifully intimate friendship. Thank you for sharing with us. It has been an incredibly soothing thing to be privy to how your chosen family has navigated this really wild and scary time. THIS is what it is about, those truly special connections with the few who truly know you. I also have had a niece during the pandemic and it has been so wonderful hearing you both talk about the influence that a new human brings to one’s world and the wild new understanding of time and the miracle that is human growth. Plus, the Frog and Toad references got me right smack in the nostalgia spot. My sister and I read it to my toddler niece and have just the most special flashbacks to our childhood together.

I'm sorry you are going through a tough transition. I also have gone through moves/downsizing that have made certain hobbies/lifestyles unfeasible. It's inevitable to feel a bit sad, but it is an opportunity for new things or resurrection of old loves that maybe you didn't have time for before. Some hobbies can sit on the bench a while, it doesn't make them less meaningful. They will always be there for when life changes again.
