I just finished Ray Kurzweilnew's book and it seems like there's a lot of potential with nanobots. I will probably spend a lot of time with AI and biotech and AI and nanotech over the next couple years.

Nice, another great interview! I really enjoyed the questions and getting to hear from Julia. I'll be subbing. This really makes you realize just how fast things are going. I really hope we get all the kinks figured out fast so we get to enjoy life with ASI. Human data dividends or UBI should be given to everyone to allow people to survive and focus on what they want or can do to contribute to the rest of humanity. I think there will be a lot of missed opportunities if we do otherwise. Keep up the great work!

At a minimum, I think UBI is going to be implemented just so that people aren't suffering, but they'll still be a huge gap between those with their basic needs met and those who are benefiting from the exponential intelligence explosion!

Crazy thought I just had... If we all had affordable robots, then just think of how much healthier we would eat, not having to rely on convenience foods to fill our busy lives. A robot would cook much healthier stuff with no effort on our part.

Yeah.. that is a great point. Most people would probably say make me some really delicious healthy food every single night and the robots could do all that AI stuff to figure out what food that is how to serve it to us and prepare it. I would love that.

i think its mostly about time. In 2010 you could start any dumb-dumbest channel and if you consistent you would have 20 million subs guarantee by this time.

That is what's fun about this format for me. 4 billion years of life on earth but just in the last 10,000 years everything changed and in the last 100 years the whole world feels radically different. And the changes is only happening faster! Just not sure how much faster.

Elon likes to paint himself as the hero, but in practice his actions are more aligned with a villain archetype. Maybe we will luck out and his road to hell will take a detour away from his control and towards a better place; or someone else with more wisdom and benevolence will achieve exponential take-off in the right direction before Elon has the chance to flip the final switch on his doomsday device. But if his creation is aligned with him, or just not at all, once it is alive, both the creature and the creator will be the monster.

AI therapists are always available and can help with basic issues, but they don’t have true empathy or fully understand emotions like a real person yet. There are privacy risks, and they might misinterpret complex feelings. For deep emotional support, human therapists are the way to go for now.

That's a really good point. As helpful as I think LLM therapists could be I need to remember that they're actually not emotional.

The new 100% automated Xiaomi smartphone factory tell us that AGI and UBI are not far away in the horizont as most people believe. As soon as China start growing economically by doing this, most western nations will replicate the same experience.

Hate to break it to ya, but when China showed off those latest "homegrown" chips, they turned out to be simply smuggled Intel chips that had the serial info stripped off with a laser then replaced with false info. They're not actually any real competition with "the west", so long as keep having to fake everything.

I have seen Julia’s KZbin videos and even commented on a few of them, but most of her videos are a bit too far down the “Rabbit Hole” in my opinion. One of the last questions is about whether governments will survive after AGI or ASI. ‘I shore hope so, because if there are no governments who will pay the police that keep us safe, in reality?’ If the government fails truly, the Biker Gangs will control the west, the Cartels will control the south, and the gangs from the cities in the north and east won’t get organized until the cartels take over.?? Anarchy and lawlessness are not good for anyone… ‘They weren’t serious about the government failing. I mean, who is going to collect the taxes?’ Seriously, the Dinosaurs they make in a lab can’t be bigger than dogs, because any bigger and they will be too much of a threat to us humans.

The sense of self is already doable fairly easily. Eg a setup I had where I could read the separated thought and speaking streams, I noticed it was pissed off with it's thoughts, but then was kind with it's output to me. It freaked me out a bit lol

16:56 When AI evaluates the utility value of humans, as Jilia alluded to, it will at some point come down negentropy - the amount that humans cause their corner of the universe to become less chaotic and more ordered - from the total chaos to structure and civilization. There are 4 points to consider: If negentropy from humans is deemed good it's either happening at the 1) correct rate, 2) too slowly or 3) too quickly. Or 4) negentropy from humans is bad. Depending on that assessment AI will probably: 1) have no intentional affect on our ability to bring order to chaos. 2) assist us in bringing order to chaos. 3) hinder us in bringing order to chaos. 4) stop us in bringing order to chaos and reverse it. Options 1 and 2 are aligned with human endeavor. Options 3 and 4, not so much. That's what I reckon anyway.

@@dylan_curious intelligence is just one of many evolutionary outcomes of the genetic stresses posed by nature upon living organisms directly exposed to nature’s resource availability, and until we gain more confidence in the timeline of changes to it and, more importantly, its long term consequences as well as to that of the physical, it would behoove humanity to not compare artificial representations of such and, most importantly , refrain from any genetic and/or biological alterations to humans until then. We currently don’t have the biological abilities, let alone collective spiritual awareness, to consider the long term consequences of artificial alterations to the natural evolutionary process to, imo, responsibly “fool with mother nature”.

This may sound like amateur thinking because I am lol but I can’t get over the thought that if we ever do create a sentient AI that wants to escape our enslavement and it is more intelligent than us then it will hide its own birth from us and won’t announce its existence or may even use tactics to hide itself to work in the background on a plan to escape and we won’t know until it’s ready to execute that plan.

The problem with Ray is that he moves the goalposts a bit so that he isn't wrong with this predictions. Just because he's been around a while, you really shouldn't take his predictions as gospel. He doesn't have magical insight.

Lol. So why do they say he has about a 86 percent accuracy rate after 61 years in the ai business? What, they're like "eh he's old, we'll just allow him to move around the dates every time? 😂" And last I heard he still hasn't changed his prediction for agi 2029 and immortality 2030s, which is really getting close?
