This show is so underrated, even by Ms. Carroll herself. I just LOVE how it brings people of different races and cultures together in an ideal world of cooperation and friendship, I adore that!

Agreed. My mother and I never missed an episode. It was important that we saw ourselves. It was only the 2 of us and she was a medical lab technician. I was 4 when Julia premiered. Corey Baker was the first time I saw myself portrayed as a character on TV.

I watched this on television as a child. I just thought it was a good show. Why not show people of color in a positive light?

@@frothe42 I think most black people, like myself, just weren't used to seeing ourselves on TV back then. I was eight and never thought about color but knew it was wonderful having a brown skin family on TV. We lived in a tiny town, under 2,000 people, and some of the white kids, heck they were all white except for my siblings and me, well they thought Corey was cute and that my brother, who was around the same age as Corey, looked like him. He didn't, he had lighter skin and was a little better looking but we all look alike they say, lol.

I'm not making excuses for Wanda but if I had walked into someone's place and seen that guy under those circumstances I would assume that he knew her too.
