I missed this channel! I’m so glad she upload a youtube story and now I’m here again. I learned everything I know about makeup from her when her channel was called Misschevious and she always inspired me to be creative and bold with makeup also to be healthy since I saw her losing a lot of weight. I love Julia! and I’m clicking the bell 🔔 to get notifications again! 😊♥️

Interview your dad!! I am so interested in German history. When we lived in DE our neighbors would often tell us stories of WWII and life before the wall came down. They would show us documents from their great grandparents and such. It is very fascinating.

Thank you, JULIA! I am loving your “new’ look! You keep me challenged to explore and experiment ( even at 60 years of age!)... I am currently getting a VERY conservative eyebrow microneedle. I am loving the results , as I no longer need to powder in my brows for casual situations. When I do my full makeup look.... the microbladed brow with a bit of powder gives me a great dramatic look... Love you! Your content keeps getting better and better!

I was actually born in West Germany, my Dad was in the Canadian Army and stationed over there. The wall came down a few years after we moved. I can't say I really remember any of it, but the fact it wasn't that long ago is pretty relevant when people seem to think things like that don't (or won't) happen in western society. Also, I think the squat test is mandatory when trying on new workout leggings haha!

I loved this check in video! Great mix of new things and reviews. Along with everyone else, the family history snippet I thought was very interesting, because you were originally from Germany (I remember your paint my life video). I hope the books are as fascinating as you described! Please let us know

Julia, Fascinated with your family History. My mother was born in Weimar East Germany. During the war her older sister worked in the underground, was wounded, captured and taken from the hospital straight to Ravensbruck Camp and later to Buchenwald. My Uncle who was a German Officer was part of of the same underground movement & caught and killed near the end of the war. My mother and three of her sisters escaped from East Germany between 1949 & 1950. I went to East Germany with my mother in 1982. When people ask me to describe passing the border check and entering East Germany, what was it like? I always answer "It's like passing through a light filled colored photo into a dingy black and white photo." I returned after the wall came down in 1991 and they were rebuilding. What a difference!

Can you recommend podcasts in the English about this East German times. My grand parents are from Ostpreussen: Insel Rügen....
@SplatterQueen5 жыл бұрын
Ostpreussen is since 1945 a part of Poland. Rügen is in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, which is in Germany and was in East-Germany.
@juliagraf5 жыл бұрын
Rügen is still a part of Germany, it's not considered to be a part of former Prussia. But actually I don't know any english speaking podcasts about this subject matter. :(

Very interesting subject matter! Not sure if you're allowed to say, but was your grandpa a Nazi?
@juliagraf5 жыл бұрын
Lol no, only Nazi party members in Germany were Nazis. My grandfather was a civilian who was drafted to fight in the war, like all able-bodied men at the time. But I think he was never on the front lines.
