the amrezy highlighter HAS to be like, legally limited edition, because if they WERE going to bring it back, you'd think they'd have done it with the amrezy palette 🤷‍♀️
@xamyx2205

They did bring it back at one point, though... Besides, I'm quite certain ABH owns the actual formula, which is what most people were excited for, so I think they can bring it back in a different shade.

@@xamyx2205 right but I doubt the hype would be the same, even if it were the same formula in different shades. it wouldn't be ~the amrezy highlighter~

@@jupiterliam7961 I don't think most of the people who loved & bought it even know who Amrezy is, and bought it for the formula... Besides, Becca was able to rerelease Champagne Pop without Jaclyn Hill's name, so ABH could probably do the same without Amrezy's name, especially since I highly doubt she was in the lab developing the shade...

I do think brands do the shade thing intentionally, but not for reasons you may think. I don’t think they’re doing it to drum up press, I think they’re using as a way of saying we’re elite, we don’t have to cater to all skin tones. Aka you racist as fuck and or expect your consumers to be too.

ACTUALLY I shared a new Milani launch back in the fall with Trendmood by DM and she featured the product and credited me - although she posted my handle incorrectly. I think this was around the time that she had done her brand deal with Milani for that kit and the exclusive products at Walgreens. I don’t work in the beauty industry, I just love makeup so I shared the new release info with her and she promoted it. But I do think she gets paid by certain brands and has longterm contracts to give priority to latest launches.

I definitely think a good amount of indie brands private label. Especially with palettes and lashes. Like Peachy Queen cosmetics, mamacita cosmetics, and dulzura cosmetics. I’ve seen those indie brands launch the SAME EXACT palette with their brands label at the same time. And for such small indie brands to pump out new releases as often as they do definitely confirms my theory to me.

Point 9: Jeffree Star and his group of drama channel-friends. Point 10: Casey Holmes recently did a sponsored video with Estee Laude (for the double wear foundation). It was hilarious. She did not mention one other brand in that video, at all!! She didn't list any of the products she used in the description box. She didn't even put it on the screen, just to show what she was using (like she normally does). I really like Casey, but that was some weird shit.

I work in a cosmetic company and I agree with you on a lot of points here. Especially reusing old formulas. They can be either repackaged and renamed within one brand. Or if a company has multiple brands, it can be recycled onto cheaper brands. Like for example allegedly Chanel did with their formulas for Bourjois back when they were owned by the same company. It usually happens a lot for mascaras too. With mascaras you can get dramatically different effect when using the same formulation with a different brush. I don't really agree with you about private labels - there is a significant difference between private label and subcontracting. I don't think there's any big cosmetic company that does not subcontract any of their products. Each company I worked at did that (not only cosmetics, food too). It's just impossible to have that much expertise and equipment feasibility (since it is a lot of cost) to have a diversified portfolio only in-house. Especially making aerosols is hard, most of the aerosols of any company are outsourced. But it's not private labeling, companies very often still develop their formulas and packaging in such cases. When packaging is the same, it just means that these are standard (off shelf) components that component supplier sells and develops, they are usually low cost. To have a unique design, you have to tool the packaging, like for example j* did with the concealer. It's a lot of costs, a lot of time and a lot of tests to make sure that everything works fine then (whereas when using a standard component it's quick and tooling development costs were already covered by the supplier). I could go on and on about it, because I love my job and I miss it in quarantine..!

In the Philippines they do this "makeup contest" and say that everyone has a chance but a lot of times, the winners are already choosen before the contest start. Its so obvious because they'll have deadlines but if their "winners" haven't posted their photo/video they'll extend the contest. Some brands even don't announce the winner at all.

Deffo think 🤔 Boxy charm is one. I found that there was very very little amount of influencers that do unboxing videos that acknowledged the problematic issue with so called items being classed as the original product but being made in the PRC ( eg ciate, blusher, storybook cosmetics, iconic London, 24k cream etc) it was astounding. Some even defended Boxy Charm by claiming that the owner was innocent 😇 and never knew what the brands were doing by switching where they were made 😒😒 ( that’s how they make the money 💵) it’s obvious it wasn’t just commission made relationship but they were on the payroll. I lost a lot of faith in so many you tubers after that

Regarding the PR search thing, part of the issue with this type of partnership is that it's not based on results. There are loads of talented makeup artists online, but talent at makeup does not necessarily make a good 'influencer'. The point of PR is to get that person's audience to buy the brands product and make money. If the influencer cant move product it doesnt matter how talented they are. This goes the other way too. Brands dangle exposure to new/smaller influencers instead of payment only for the influencers to essentially get nothing because the brand's followers dont follow the influencers after they get featured. 👀

To expand on something you said. I think brands also say dont declutter this certain product for a certain time. For example. This colorpop bundle. This person barely even talks about cp but says I love their products, eye shadows yet never uses the pallets. Actually decluttered all eyeshadow pallets from them except the one they put in their bundle but I've never seen them use the pallet since there bundle came out. My guess next declutter that pallet will go just like the others did 🤷‍♀️

The shirt you’re wearing, the pattern is so familiar. Did you get it tailored? I bought fabric with a very similar pattern that I haven’t decided on what I would make out of it. I can’t pull off-shoulder shirt the way you do, but just wanted to complement both your choice of style and you taste in patterns =)

I think Revlon makes a lot of Nars stuff. I love the Nars rubberized compacts. But, a lot of Nars products are very similar to Revlon.
