How to Make 3-D Baby Cradle Cookies

It’s been a while since my last baby cookie video, but with another grand-niece or grand-nephew on the way (we don’t know which!), I thought it was high time for another baby cookie - and one with a gender reveal twist! Just tuck appropriately colored candy (either pink or blue) into the bottom of this 3-D cookie cradle, and you’ve got a cute-as-a-button baby shower favor that any new mom will love!

PROJECT DIMENSIONS AND CUTTERS USED:
Cradle body: 3 ½ x 6-inch (approximately) rectangle shaped over 2 ¾-inch diameter cylinder
Headboard: 2 7/8-inch round cookie merged with 3 5/8 x 4 ¾-inch plaque cookie to create a piece about 2 7/8 inches wide and 4 ¾ inches tall
Baseboard: 2 7/8-inch round cookie merged with 2 ¾ x 3 ¾-inch plaque cookie to create a piece about 2 7/8 inches wide and 3 ¾ inches tall
Runners: 4- to 4 ½-inch round with 2 3/4- to 3 ¼-inch hole cut in center; then cut in half to create two runners
PIPING TIP(S) USED:
I used a #349 or #350 leaf tip for piping the leaves around the daisies.

such a sweet project. I love all of the charming details. I dont know if you have looked into using frosting sheets and wafer paper with on dies-Sizzex, Memory Craft, Avery Elle, Prima...so many companies make dies in every shape imaginable. There is everything from the most intricate delicate shapes to Tim Holtz's more grungy rustic images to basic shapes and everything in between. I think you might be able to use them with the wafer paper and really expand your options. Right now word and alphabet dies and everywhere with so many incredible designs. I particularly like to cut handwritten word dies from gold-foiled papers but the shapes and opportunities are endless. As for the die cutting machine itself, I love using the Vagabond from Tim Holtz and Sizzix because it has a motor and I don't have to hand crank but that is purely personal preference. I am looking forward to your pillow and teddy bear cookies as I look forward to all of you videos. Your creativity continues to inspire me.

I did the cookies by your recepe, but I have some problem with icing, I did everything like you did, but for beadwork consistency I didn't find how:( and roses also not turning out good looking... Maybe because I left my icing at the fridge? My mom's birthday is coming and I want to do that wonderful box you did,I ordered your stencil, thanks for them, they are awesome, I bought airbrush, looks like everything is ready,but those roses:( Maybe icing could be thicker? Hi Julia, What tip are you using in the video for the leaves and what consistency icing did you use? I just made some pumpkin cookies and my leaves are a disaster. I sure could use some advice. Thanks!

Thanks, Julia. The leaf keeps splitting as it's coming out of the tip. I agree that a thicker icing is needed since I like the leaves to stand up a bit. I may purchase a new tip to see if I get a better result.

Thanks, and, yes, they get eaten. The project can be made within 24 hours once the cookies are baked, but the cookies don't get stale in that period of time. I look forward to seeing what you create!

I've only just started decorating cookies and have found that small details pit when they dry and larger areas sink a little and look like they are cracking, I tried thickening up my icing a little thinking that it was to runny but it didn't seem to make much of a difference, do you have any suggestions, I tried putting them in an oven as you suggested in one of you video which helped with the pitting on the small detail but not the problem with the larger detail.
