@@nessuno6110 Mike Pompeo and Mike Pence ran in to the Oval Office as soon as Trump said he was thinking about Pardoning Assange and talked him out of it, so you can’t blame this specifically on Steyn. Tucker Carlson on Fox News begged Trump every day to Pardon Assange and that didn’t work either. In the end State Dept and Defense Dept Officials went in to the Oval Office and made the Case to Trump as to why he Should NOT Pardon Assange……..and Trump Listened………..

@@mariahewitt9787 Article II, Section 2, Clause 1 of the U.S. Constitution, which provides: "The President ... shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of impeachment." There is no mention of "citizenship". The only entity who has the power to save Assange is Russia. That's what his (real!) friends should concentrate on. Anything else is a waste of time.

The sad truth is the Australian government hasn't done a damn thing to help Assange The new Australian PM just gifted a family, who came here illegally, anew house and $200,000 Julian Assange, an Australian citizen, doesn't even get a mention Our virtue signalling leaders have abandoned Assange, because he holds no political mileage, they are disgusting!!

I hope that those responsible for his treatment get the same consideration when we eventually catch up with them. If there was ever a need for real meaningful protest this case is it. If his skin was a different colour this would never have happened.

For those who are interested, the Supermax Julian is headed to is located in Florence, Colorado. It has been called "a clean version of Hell." The cells are below ground and you are pretty much in there all the time. No windows so you can't see the outside world. I think you get like one hour outside your cell every day. You can't control the lights and they are on all the time so you lose track of whether it is night or day. CCTV watches you all the time. No communication is allowed between guards or inmates. After a few days of this, I would probably go mad and start banging my head on the wall. If you do that though, they put you in a straight jacket and time really drags. Also from what I understand, the prison is located in the middle of a desert/salt flat that extends for about 30 miles in every direction. There is no water, nothing edible on the salt flat, and there are motion detectors everywhere. It is literally escape-proof. Even if an inmate could get out of his cell and make it to the surface, there is no way to cross the desert/salt flat without being tracked and quickly recaptured. Harry Houdini couldn't get out of there. If Julian goes into this place, he is definitely never coming out any other way than by a pardon or clemency.

The sad truth is that it is pretty much all over for poor, old Julian. He should have ran when he had the chance as soon as he heard they were after him. His mistake was he became way too cavalier and never conisdered the possibility of retaliation until it was too late. Snowden was much smarter. He carefully plotted out his escape before he acted, knowing what was to come.
