Those two statements don’t contradict each other, they go hand in hand, just worded differently. Clothing influencing you is just another form of imitating behavior you’ve seen. For example, say I dress like rockstar and that influences me to act like one. That sounds like an example of the second statement, but it also counts as an example of the first, because I’m imitating the behavior of rockstars I’ve seen. When he said “the clothes you wear influences your behavior”, he meant “the clothes you wear influences you to imitate the behavior of the people you’ve seen wear those kinds of clothes before.” If wearing wedding band clothes makes me wanna act like a wedding band member, that’s still just imitating behavior I’ve seen. Both statements are about imitation, just the first one is explicit about it, while the other one just implies it
