Jackson’s power is legitimately unsettling. Tyson is a result of rage, training, and drive. Jackson is seemingly a result of the universe making a decision to give him firetrucks as hands… not to say that his training wasn’t as grueling, there simply isn’t enough documentation of it.

His son John fought at Nationals and ended up being a real good guy which led to meeting Julian Jr and Sr. All super nice guys as Senior was laughing when I told him I was at his fights as a kid when he fought against the G Man and Taylor "You must be bad luck, I got killed in both fights". Then when I explained it to him it wasnt my fault, it was walking through the mouth of a giant Lions Head into the MGM casino sport venue, which Asians consider very very unlucky. Laughed harder and said "but you aint Asian and neither am I" but signed me a pair of gloves and shorts so i was happy

@@moment2momentphotographyvi236 the real old timers, I'm talking like Kenny Norton, Vito Antuofermo, Ernie Shavers, LaMotta, Cooney, etc are always great because they never saw the dough guys from the 90s onward did. In fact outside of Foreman their stories are damn tragic. Poor Smokin Joe ended up penniless living above his beaten down gym in a tiny apartment. Philly couldnt even give him the respect of saving the gym which is now an Indian furniture store. No statue till he died either, just "Rocky Balboa". Before my time but dad worked with Liston and the great Joe Louis at Caesars. Both were so broke they needed to stand and shake hands with casino patrons. How depressing is that. The GOAT Joe Louis having to dance to pay the tax man My father said they were both great. Cooney did it to and was also a real nice guy, but I can never shake a broken down Frazier and Louis dying without the respect they deserved. Poor Sonny got whacked apparently. All tragic. @@thegadflygang5381 Don King was still fleecing his fighters and corrupting the sport into this century mate. No doubt Julian never saw most of the money he made along with the entire King camp, even Iron Mike never saw most of the money he made King. There's no such thing as a coward in a boxing ring and we should remember that the vast majority don't get the chance to fight at the top, only those that were born with extreme talent and fortitude so much as get to fight for a title let alone be remembered among the greats like Julian Jackson.

Me and my pop used to love watching Julian fight. What a tremendous counter puncher. It's like a trip hammer. Either side, right or left, Jackson was extremely dangerous. We could never figure out where he got that skill from. It's Natural, God given ability. This was the era when Boxing was at it's very peak. Julian Jackson was probably for us, being from Philly, the most exciting fighter we ever saw. The way he worked the body was a work of art. We could always expect the assault to the body and then the combo's to the head. Julian would hit that temple and it was lights out. What a great fighter he was. Thank you for making this video of one of the greatest boxers.
@davidcrow31012 жыл бұрын
Julian Jackson was the definition of dynamite in both hands. Absolute scary power in both hands. Jackson hit so hard it took some of his opponents a few seconds to register that they had been knocked out. Many got hit and stood there for a second like their brain was thinking "WTF WAS THAT?!" before their body slumped to the canvas. Witness what he did to Terry Norris. He knocked Norris out with one crisp right hand out of the blue and Norris was so far gone that he seemed to forget to fall down. As a result Norris got hit two more times for his troubles before he landed on his face. I was amazed Norris got up within a week of those shots. Then there were the guys that just melted when Jackson hit them and laid on the canvas like a dead fish such as Herol Graham. Jackson was on the verge of losing that fight due to a doctor's stoppage. Then one clean right cross and Graham went down like the proverbial puppet when it's strings are cut. The definition of a one hitter quitter. One of the scariest knockouts I've ever seen. Next to knockout in the dictionary it should say, "See Jackson v. Graham". His whole career can be summed up in one sentence: if the opponent didn't knock Jackson out, Jackson would knock them out. Someone should do a mash up of Jackson knockouts set to "God will cut you down" by Johnny Cash.

awesome video!! never heard of this fighter but man his commitment to every single punch is just beautiful. Yeah some people have natural power, but the thing that people forget too is how much the boxer is committing to the punch. Every time you throw power, it can move you off balance, off base, and missing means you might get countered big, so there are a ton of boxers who have power but just dont commit to their punches, well at least not all of them like Jackson seems to do. Every hard right hand, he steps into it. Every hard punch, you can see he is putting in full and utter commitment. Thats belief right there. That was his real power.

Not sure if there's such a thing as E.S.P., but Mr. Vincent read my mind. Just yesterday I specifically SEARCHED his videos to see if he'd made a Julian Jackson video. Today arrives, and here it is! I'll go ahead and assume this was made per my request. Fantastic.

In his 61 bouts as a pro, Julian Jackson won 49 by KO. Which means that he knocked out 80% of his opponents. This, of course, is a fantastic achievement for a long career in professional boxing.

Excellent work Joe. I can almost feel Jackson's punches from here. Love the slow-mo repeats. You get to study the destruction much better! Julian should feel no shame in losing to the almost super human Gerald McClellan. Julian Jackson was an exceptional fighter and champion and truly an all time GREAT!

He was on the decline prior to the first G man fights although winning both matches before that fight but he was never the same due to issues with both his eyes he was suffering progressive blindness.

You won't see a bunch of KO's like this in the videos of any other fighter, JJ was the only fighter who consistently starched guys in this way.
@lesran5 ай бұрын
@@andyelliott8027 agreed. With Jackson you expected the one punch knockout. He might have worn guys down a little but the fight enders were just one single mammoth punch with an insane amount of torque on it.

..............AND YOU NEVER WILL !! No other fighter hit like JJ.

I was waiting for you to do this for the Hawk Thank you

Never seen anyone else whose punches had the same effect that Jackson's had on opponents. Every punch, even ones that didn't look hard or seem like he got a lot of torque into it, seemed to be capable of breaking the connection between the brain and the rest of the body. When guys who get punched in the face as part of their job keep getting either their lights turned off or become jerking, shuddering puppets with a single punch, you know you're seeing something very special. If anyone else knows a puncher who's had that kind of effect I'd love to know, but I've never seen anything else like it. I think the Hawk has a very good argument for being the best pound for pound puncher of all time.

That first fight, where he still looked like a kid, he was swinging for the fences, man. That was kind of terrifying. He was literally an amateur just a few days prior to that? This guy was bonkers. What a beast. EDIT: I hated seeing Don King behind him when he won his first title. I hope Mr. Jackson (who made a new fan just now) got to keep some of the money he earned and was able to retire comfortably.

Superb boxer, scary, powerful puncher. I'm always, always so glad to see boxers of that/any era not having been hurt, still lucid, and having retained quite a bit of money for their endeavours in a brutal sport, (One interweb site says he's worth $5 million - should be much more). There's nothing sadder, more terrible than seeing/hearing a boxer with mental decline due to damage sustained in the ring AND having squandered (or had stolen from them) their money.

Please consider a video on Allan Trammel and Lou Whittaker, the longest running double play combination in major league baseball. They both came through the Detroit Tigers system, coming up on the same day, playing 20 years together, turning 1200 double plays, multiple golden gloves, silver sluggers and a world series. They both got their first hit off the same pitcher and their last hit off the same pitcher. just an amazing story that needs to be told! thanks for all your content, gratefully..
