It sounds a lot like neither party was killed but were taken. If Vic dies here it’s going to be a nod to Jason Todd. I do not agree with the idea that he’s Red Hood or Jason Todd in a literal sense. But Penguin met him the same way Batman met Jason- stealing the rims of their personal mobile. He’s analogous to a Robin for Penguin. Sofia has a crowbar. Batman lost Jason to a crowbar. If Vic makes it out, I’d assume when he’s free Roxie is gonna be upset and cause Vic to know this is Eve’s fault, which Penguin would probably kill her.

I have a feeling that Vic, Julian, and Sophie are going to survive even after that last episode. Mainly because I feel there’s more story to Vic & Julian in many ways “The Penguin” show may serve as A origin story for a few of Batman’s villains. And I don’t see them allowing the fact that Sophie and The Catwoman are Half Sisters to go completely unnoticed in the near future. There’s too much that can be done with these characters.

Rush’s light therapy isn’t torture. He’s on Sofia’s side it only looks painful because she is confronting those hard problems in her head while it’s happening. iirc he was also using “hypnosis” techniques (which I guess could contribute to a Jervis Tetch theory) to bring her there so she can overcome it, which while difficult or tumultuous as confronting these things can be, it wouldn’t be considered torture. Treating a wound hurts, medicines sting, but you wouldn’t call these torture. Flashing light therapy treatment can manage symptoms of that branch of dementia. Stuff like Rush’s light bar is among a few kinds of concepts used in neuroscience for treating cognitive issues. There’s an auditory equivalent as well. These treatments are not torture. If Rush was going to use the light bar on her, it would be to treat her lewy body dementia. Not make it worse.

Who will probably kill Oz's Mom, Oz will kill Rush, and figuratively (ot maybe physically, if there is one) take or wear Rush's "Tophat". Penguin IS also known to wear one. Vic most certainly will die in the Finale, probably for not protecting Oz's Mom. Sofia and Maroni's fates, I'm not so sure of.

I'm more open to the idea of him being Mad Hatter because villains like Scarecrow and Hugo Strange who have been compared to this Julian Rush fella are big names and will likely not be in a show where Batman doesn't appear. Maybe she’s getting tortured, her illness gets outta hand or she knows that eventually it will get worse. And in doing so, he finally proves himself to her, she praises him for keeping his promise to be a “somebody” and also to help her die. In doing so he would also eliminate the biggest leverage anyone has on him and gains the upper hand on Maroni and Sofia. This could include Vic and Eve as well. He gains everything he ever wanted but loses everyone he ever cared about. Completing his villain arc.

The reason this series has a larger audience than just the comic book fans is that the villains are shown to be human after all, despite the stresses that have distorted their morality. If the Penguin villains become wholly evil, this would be a betrayal of this theme and a slap in the face to anyone who has followed the plots as (at least somewhat) tragic. This does not mean we excuse evil, but totally inhuman villains forfeit much of an audience’s regard for them. They just become soulless plot devices.

Mad Hatter makes more sense than Hugo or Crane, especially with the simmering tea- but I still hate these kind of theories and think people need to stop assuming every character is a mystery comic character. They’ve been pretty forward with characters that are references like Mr. Bloom and this isn’t an MCU project, but a serious attempt at a show that doesn’t need or want to do a thing-you-know whodis. People mistake Joker’s “cameo” in The Batman as an MCU style tease/theory bait but the truth is it was following up on an earlier scene cut for time and has a purpose. It wasn’t meant to come off as some fan service tease.

I think the Julian Rush character will ultimately end up being another "Adam Knight" situation. My OG Smallville fans will remember there was a character named Adam Knight in season 3 of Smallville who everyone(including myself) assumed was supposed to be a younger Bruce Wayne integrated into the show using an alias during his expedition/training to become Batman(timeline added up too). A young, brooding, mysterious, handsome, intelligent man who knows martial arts(which is never explained in a logical way how he knows martial arts). This guy ended up being.....just a guy and was evetually killed off after making a random heel turn of being obsessed with Lana that honestly felt out of character after he origally pushed her away. All the clues to him being Batman all just being coincidence lol. I think Julian Rush will just be his own character that for some reason they gave qualities from other villains

I’m just so used to twists and betrayals in this plot that it’s conceivable that Rush is not really working for Sofia, but for the Penguin, it would be not incomprehensible that Rush is manipulating her to trust him- which he clearly is anyway
