My pup and I just hiked to the CT via Indian Creek TH on July 1, stayed at Bear Creek for night, then finished Segment 1 on July 2. Weather, being over 90* and very little water. Hoping to head back out this weekend and do Segment 2. Thanks for the post.

Juliana, thanks for sharing segment one. A goal of mine for this year is to hike segments of the Colorado and CDT. Was planning on delaying this until the snow/ice are gone, but kudos to you for hiking last weekend. Love the mountain goats!

Good to see you back on a trail. Keep the orange cap on your fuel it protects the threads , if you damage them you could also damage your stove
@rob_6292

anything that can damage the threads will f up the plastic at the same time. you have a better chance cross threading your stove then damaging the threads otherwise.

So happy to see you back on trail. Looking forward to seeing all segments. Your Vlog as well as others on the PCT encouraged me to do some "Trail Magic" this spring in the Warner Springs area, and then under I-10 near Palm Springs. Loved the Big Horn Sheep!!!

Juliana (Chaunc), you're so pretty while section hiking. A lot different than the dirty fingers, face and tattered Hawaiian shirt. I have donations from CLIF Bar, and working on Power Bar and others. Then I will have fresh fruit, nuts, dried fruit, and assorted candy bars, Skittles. Cold soda, chocolate milk, and of course lots of water!! Anything else????

I always hoped for soda, but I know a lot of people get super stoked when there's beer lol.. sounds like a great selection! Anything hikers don't usually carry with them on long stretches (like the fresh fruit) is always a good option!

I was going to go with different sodas since everyone has different likes, but the beer was going to be for myself and a friend to enjoy while sitting for the long day. Maybe I should plan an extra growler or two.

I doubt that you will get much further on the trail before May. The trail thru Lost Creek up to Kenosha pass and further should be under snow this time of year. Lots of snow. It's surprising to see so little in the southern foothills of Denver. ja

Excellent! I hope to section hike the CT this summer. I'd love to do the entire trail at one time, but work (and my kitty )would hate me. This is very inspiring! Looking forward to future videos. Could you say the date on video when you do each section, please? That would help with seeing the weather and planning on what clothes to bring for future hikers. Much appreciated!

Hello JC! I am looking forward to watching your CT videos. I was out there today, seg 1. Seg 1 and 2 are quickly becoming my training trails. I am thinking of doing a back and forth of the CT in 2019. Like I said, I haven't watched your video yet but I am sure I will learn a thing or two. What kind of camera did you use???

The weather has been crazy warm this year, hasn't it? Looks Iike a fun group of guys walking with you. :-). Their ice skills are...ummm....interesting. ;-). Where can one get good maps of the CT? I've been looking online and not sure which work best. I plan on doing some Trail Angel stuff this summer for the CDT and the CT where they join up, so if I can help with any car shuttling , please let me know. I live west of Colorado Springs and plan on doing some trail magic at Monarch Pass, Twin Lakes and a couple other places west of Buena Vista and Salida once I know thruhikers will be in those areas. Come on, summertime! :-) Karen.

Look up the colorado trail foundation. If you're hiking/bikepacking the CT you'll want the CT databook. It has all the info you'll need out there. I think you can order it on Amazon.

And thanks in advance for the trail magic. That can make all the difference when cold, wet, tired and mentally done. A soda and a donut can work magic at the right time. All you trail angels are freakin amazing.

Sweet video, enjoyed it and looking forward as you hike the segments. I’m hoping to get on it this July with my dog. Those orange caps are just to protect the threads on the canister, no function beyond that. Was it more of a noob move to not bring traction devices for a hike in January or to leave that cap on??? Hope there isn’t too much snow for you the rest of the way.

What is it with those sheep? They just ignore you all! You need a hiker that wants the same routes in the opposite direction so you can exchange car keys in the middle, it makes all the difference versus out and back. Good seeing you back on the trail!
