These episodes reaffirm my love for football a thousand times over😂 Scott was so good in this. Three hours, baby! When Jules was talking about how demoralizing 6 minute scoring drives are for a defense in a low scoring game, when the offense converts multiple 3rd downs👌🏻Every football fan, player and coach has been on the wrong end of those. Those are the unspoken insights that win a game like The Snow Bowl.

Chuck Noll the Steelers HC, was saying "just do your job" back in the 70s, and Vince Lombardi was, back in the 60s. In my very humble opinion, it was a fumble, and the fact that the "tuck rule" was scrapped completely, just says it all. Great game indeed!

I now understand why I get this specific feeling sometimes around later summer, late fall, and early spring, then late spring to late summer a different feeling. I played 6 sports in high school. Later summer reminds me of football and football conditioning. Early fall reminds me of week 1, late fall reminds me of the end of football and football and the start of basketball and wrestling. Late winter/early spring is the end of football and basketball and the start of track and tennis. Then late spring is time to relax and go skateboarding and skating and chill… until later summer comes again and you get in such a rhythm you wouldn’t even need to be told when football and football conditioning starts you kinda just show up anyway for day 1 at that. Then after graduation I was too busy with school to play sports and while I was varsity and all I wasn’t exactly pursuing a career in sport nor college sports, but I still get that feeling off of just 4 years of that. I can only imagine how ingrained that must be after 13 + 4 + 4… 21 years of that.

For fun look up Belichick's record in the Playoffs against Jerry Rice, either as Giants DC or Pats HC. I think he's 4-0 holding Rice's teams to like under 10 ppg or something crazy. I remember during these playoffs, Ty Law said Belichick asked the CBs "Can you cover a 15 yard area (basically where a slant would go)?" And Ty is like "Yeah." And Bill said "Then we can stop them." Bill was not overwhelmed by the West Coast offense.

This game means so much to me! I was 3 years old when this game was played. I had a large portuguese family in the Bay Area. There was a giant party for the game at my grandpas. They had two money pots for the game. One for Raiders fans and one or Patriots fans. If the raiders won, you picked from that pot, and vice versa. My dad bet on the raiders and put down a bet in my name on the patriots. Everyone thought the raiders would win. There were only 3 names in the Patriots pot. When the Patriots won, my bet was picked from the patriots' pot. My dad threw me up in the air so high. I just "won" 500 dollars. He bought me some Patriots stuff with the money. It started a lifelong obsession with the Patriots. No team makes me emotional, other than the Pats.

This is why I will never fully say sports are rigged, i will say at times outside forces try to influence the outcome but at end of the day.. you still have to go out and perform, you still have to endure the hits, the study time, the prep, the amount of time spent watching flim.. there so much that goes into sports plus but not lastly the raw emotions of sports.. you can fake genuine human reactions.. I loved this episode and sports in general.. this may been the exact push I needed to get into coaching

I watched this game on an aircraft carrier (CVN-71) after my reactor operator watch on a Saturday night while we were bombing the Taliban from the Indian Ocean. I had a bet on the game with Gonzo, a friend from LA. Earlier, some of his buddies were sneaking alcohol shots since Sunday was not a "work day" and they could sleep in. While watching the game, I was getting louder and louder (I'm from RI) over the dramatic twists and turns. While this was happening, one of the friends who was drinking had an accident and smashed his eye chasing another sailor into his top rack. He needed medical treatment, where they witnessed how drunk he was. My berthing was ordered to report to the hangar bay to submit to a breathalyzer test. I was literally dragged out of berthing as I saw Vinatieri's kick go through the uprights for the win. I got here and gave Gonzo a victorious fist and he knew he'd be paying for my drinks next port. You can take all the outrageous surroundings I had for this and it still may be my favorite game of all time!

How about Gene Steratore? A Referee perspective...think about the conversation there...or about the state of referee while he was refereeing, current and future. Someone who I would love to see on here would be awesome is Amy Trask. She must have a totally different game in mind...and the Al Davis stories...c'mon. Love this podcast so much.
