I absolutely adore Angela Lansbury. I saw her 4 times in Blithe Spirit in London 2014. She was wholly fabulous, the whole cast was but she, in her 80’s was truly exceptional. Julie Andrews is pretty fabulous too. I remember her when she lived by me on Wimbledon Common. That tells you how old I am! This popped up when I was watching Jason Manford hosting the London musical stage awards. Sorry but his version of Razzle Dazzle is, to put it kindly, dreadful ! Listen to Carol Channing sing it at The Hollywood Bowl! Nearly all of our musical stars have left us now. Anyone remember Elisabeth Welch or Josephine Baker. Real stars!!

@tashmivyas4 жыл бұрын
@@G6JPG yup the sticker was a dare from Mike Nichols to her.. ofcourse she had to put it...SOB was a great take off on the image and everything that was Hollywood.. loved it... I wasn't born at that time; however, from whatever i have read about the magazine articles and news; quite a major chunk of the audience bracketed her...people would literally go up to her with Mary Poppins dolls and stuff and TSOM releasing wasn't also helpful....it took them about 10 years till 10 (1979) was made that they could accept another side to her... ofcourse the audience had also changed by then. She had great potential and is multi talented and versatile, and i am glad she did those varied roles and did not confine to the image.

Actually, no. Julie Andrews is certainly multi-talented, but tap is not a specialty of hers. But she can certainly fake it well
@HarringtonTribal7 жыл бұрын
Actually - yes - she taps. There's a wonderful video of her and Gene Kelly playing rhythm tap "guess that song." But the entire performance here is pre-recorded (like all of them from this era) so there is no need for taps. There were no taps on Gene Kelly or Donald O'Connor in Singing in the Rain either - but we heard them.

Also - Angela Landsbury taps as well. Look for the opening of either the Oscars in 1973 that she hosted. She taps in that.
