This was one GREAT actress! When she died, a great deal of what acting is supposed to be went with her. She was also a lovely woman. I was privileged to have seen her in "Forty Carats," "In Praise of Love," "Miss Reardon Drinks a Little," "The Belle of Amherst," and "The Gin Game." I met her three times, and also have handwritten notes from her. She was exactly as you'd think from watching her here. Gracious, appreciative, and unaffected by fame. She represents what was but is no more. And she's right about the British. So many GREAT actors from that one, comparatively small place. It's in their blood and they TRAIN!

Julie Harris to me was the greatest stage actress of the 20th Century. She had so many outstanding performances but in my opinion she WAS EMILY DICKINSON brought back to life.I saw her perform this live and was hypnotized!

She could also be very funny. She was terrific in Skyscraper a musical that wasn't a huge success but should have been. She was fabulous, and had the most gorgeous speaking voice. I love this interview. She won't be drawn into talking too much and Dean and Brando. Classy.

God, I loved Julie Harris on Knots Landing. I had no idea how much she’d accomplished and how respected she was. Would have loved to have seen her live. Incandescent actress.

I did...Driving Miss Daisy in the late 1980s. But I would have loved to have seen her on the stage for The Belle Of Amherst. I was a little too young then to have known where the play was performed. I saw it on TV many times.

She did Knot's landing for fun I suspect, and money. A hit TV series paid incredible money. And all those awards less so. She was gorgeous.

@@lovescoffee7189 Lucky you. I wish I’d had the opportunity to have seen her in anything. I didn’t appreciate just how incredible she was until years after she left (or more accurately was let go from) Knots Landing, but even as a teenager watching KL in the mid 80’s I could tell there was something very special about her.

@@jochenstossberg5427 Absolutely. And from what I’ve read and heard, she was just as beautiful inside. Not hard to believe that…she just exuded warmth, intelligence and kindness, as is evident from this (too short) interview.

Shawn Kurland oh I know, and I am so fortunate to have had that experience. However, I didn't know she was back in Cleveland in the late 1990s for The Gin Game and I would have loved to have seen her in that. I think after that, she may have had a stroke and didn't tour in that way again. She was a lovely, memorable actress. I would have liked to have met her. I wish I had sent her a fan letter because I read she actually did answer them when she was on tour.

Wasted interview. Marlon Brando and James Dean were both grossly overrated.

I agree with some of what you have to say on this, Brando was seriously bad in way too many films, and ridiculous in a few too. But having said that, their combined performances in film of Streetcar, On The Waterfront, and the film of East of Eden are so exceptional that they transcend everything else. Lets just say that they were great in three great films put together. But why is this a wasted interview? Julie Harris was a great actress, and this is an interview about her. I suspect you wanted some negative comments on Brando and Dean. She's too classy for that.
