This video has been very pleasing ( to me ) to learn from Julie's conversation on abstract painting and her creative process. Although I am not a painter by trade, I do carry out influences in abstract expressionism into my artwork. I have to agree that New Mexico is great place to be inspired by nature at work. Thanks for the share!

Muchas gracias.

love love love the fact that we can come together explore what its like creating abstract expression art. musicians adding and stacking different tracks for different textures and rhythms, chefs with flavors, textures, any way of combining elements to make them different but compliment a creation as it heads in the direction its combining to reveal

wow! so inspired!! A female abstract expressionist with real bold distinctive heroic work. Female painters are never in the limelight which is really sad- we are obsessed with the male perspective..

what kind of textural material do you use? I love your work and would love to try this technique.Any texture that I have tried is hard when dry and the water doesn't permeate it or affect it.
@julieschumer71828 жыл бұрын
It's a very light coating of sheet rock mud or joint compound. It doesn't cover the entire surface. Try that and let me know what happens!

I believe this to be expressionist for sure ... but I am not sure I would use the term "abstract expressionist" ... That movement is over ... the new york school painters are all (or mostly) gone from this life now. There may be still some painters out there that want to tear down the figure ... but no longer for the same reasons. Julie is actually building up the figure here in these abstractions. I like the imagery ... and I like the processes. They are different from mine ... but I enjoy watching how other artists work.

The movement is far from over. Maybe we are in the 4th generation but later, in retrospect, when today is history..it will be seen from a fuller, wider perspective.

Carl G. Mueller, Apt. 325 525 14th Street San Diego, CA 92101 Below is a shortened reconstructed version of suggestions sent to me. Subject: Therapeutic Envelope Art and Letter Art, is easy and inexpensive to make, mail and historically maybe investment wise when collector stamps are attached. I control despair by mailing hand crafted one of a kind artistic envelopes. My despair lightens knowing that maybe I’ll be remembered in history for helping others because of my shared words and or art. This “Envelope Art” also helps me fight depression because I’m sharing art with others who also enjoy exchanging art in envelopes. Doing the art on envelopes makes it very low-cost because the envelopes act as I built in easel when cardboard or another stiffener type of material is inserted into the envelope before I paint. After the painting of the envelope is done the cardboard stiffeners can be replaced with a letter. This enclosed letter too may contain art. I sometimes attach collector stamp(s) to the enclosed letters/art, thus not only self promoting but promoting words or Websites of others. Attach collector stamp(s) guarantees this art or even not so artful material to be a true historical investment as a collectors idem. The value most likely takes place long after our death but the fight to control despair starts instantly. Sincerely, Carl G. Mueller, Vietnam 1968 PS A package of your art can be hidden to be found later, set adrift and or Webbed.

Using joint compound as a "texturing material" on a flexible support like paper or canvas just about guarantees that it will crack and flake. Joint compound remains water soluble and rigid. It is not an archival material, and completely unsuitable for fine arts applications.

Just as good as a second grade student with a pot of paint, a brush and some paper could do. No wonder people love this crap... it's crap that they, too, can do.
@badparrotproductions405410 жыл бұрын
Dont like the figures. Done well but kind of like craft shop paintings ; hence predictable. Probably sell to housewives. The abstracts are better than most you will find. Most abstract painters are fakes but this is the real deal .You can see the quality. The artist paints abstracts like a male which is a surprise . This is a real artist no doubt about that and there are not many real artists around .
