I like how you add real case studies for us regular people. Keep them coming! Can you do a video about styling an empty wall? I don't like to clutter the wall with tons of art or photos, but would love to learn how to minimally style a wall.

Yes same, I'm not one for gallery walls or art that draws a ton of attention but I have some super boring blank walls in my bathroom and such (that wont fit shelves because of a door and a mirror seems redundant)

This was interesting. I would like to see another video like this for people that live in colder climates with boots and coats. It was clear that those who had hooks above art on the wall live in warmer climates. i did get some ideas to incorporate.

I use the entry as a functional space for the bare minimum Kimmy. Coats and shoes then get relegated to hall closets, garages, a guest room where more space is required for storage. You don’t want to clutter your front entry. Keep it minimal and inviting 👍🏻

Thanks for the video Julie! Perfect timing. I went “shopping” in my house and gathered a narrow 48” table, my grandfathers brass koi fish lamp, and a couple of ceramic pitchers and placed the table perpendicular to my front door. Everything is open concept and this made the perfect landing spot at my front door. I added a woven basket on the lower shelf. Thanks for explaining the concepts to keep it beautiful and simple.

I've grown to become such a fan of yours, Julie, after viewing several of your videos over a number of months. Your teaching is greatly helpful for honing my approach to the design needs of a space, making spaces all the more useful and attractive. Your instruction is so well written and clear. I'm extremely impressed. I'm impressed not only in the terrific scope of your knowledge but also with you, yourself, in the way that you come across as a humble and great person. At this video's end, I was impressed with your forthright critique of your own previous work, bringing into the conversation how we evolve and grow in our design sensibilities over time; and, you let us know that you know what it is to feel overwhelmed and discouraged on design projects at times. I just love your approach to it all and think the world of you. Thank you for your videos. I've only begun to scratch the surface of the innumerous videos and topical series! I'm enjoying the heck out of your KZbin channel and wanted to thank you!

I have an awkward tiny entry with a hallway to the right, a narrow hallway to the living room AND stairs going down on the left, and a narrow entry just ahead into the kitchen. You’ve given me hope that there is ALWAYS something to try, even if it is a 2” piece of wood with hooks and a mirror above behind the entry door, or a 4-6” depth console down the hall into the living room. Must go shopping…We’ll see…thanks, again! Your videos are fabulous!

Loving these "awkward space" solutions series. I have a triangle/trapezoid shaped space, with a two-sided fireplace. It's a 1,000 square foot condo with loft (overlooking the triangular great room/living room). There are only two walls in the space because it's a triangle, and one of those walls is ceiling to floor mirrors. This look is kinda dated, but does serve the purpose of giving the illusion of a larger space, and reflecting a lot of light from the adjacent windows and skylights along the ceiling. Then there's the challenge of "marrying up" the great room/living room with the tiny kitchen it flows into. The space has a very modern feel and I know it can be great, but I'm so lost about how to deal with it. Smaller sofa, then bar height rectangular table along one wall? Scrap the couch altogether (which I'm inclined to do since the is around 15x12ish) and go with chairs and small cocktail table instead? This space is a huge challenge to decorate/design. Please consider a video with triangular/trapezoid shapes!

Thank you so much! So another awkward space we have is an open concept master bathroom. The shower/toilet is in it's own private space, but the laundry, 2 closets and bath are all in an open square shape along with two vanities, a sewing area, 42 drawers/doors and the whole space happens to need serious updating. We just want to make sure we are utilizing the space in a smart and practical way.

All of those examples look great; yet, I must say that I feel that the very last one (the one you said it looked busy) is the only one I feel was realistic and used. All the other ones were simply staged and once things hang on hooks and kids (or not kids) have taken their shoes off, it will look and feel totally different. Thank 'you' for your inspiration!
